A Break from the Usual … Just this Once

As most of you know, this space is normally reserved for my incredibly witty, scintillating and brilliant observations about issues and ideas, big and small.  Then you, my friends, get to weigh in and tell me what you think.

With the first year of our new Web site coming to a close, I’d like to take time out from the usual routine to thank all of you for your comments, whether you agree with me or not – though I much prefer favorable posts to unfavorable ones, which proves only one thing:  despite popular belief, I am only human.

I’d also like to break from the usual – just this once – to call your attention to the box to the right of this column.  This holiday season is the only time I will use this space to let you know about … STUFF.

The reason I write books is to get my ideas out there.  So, if you haven’t picked up a copy of A Slobbering Love Affair yet, this might be a good time.  And if you’re looking for a truly unique gift for your conservative friends and family … or if you just want to annoy your liberal pals … take a look at our brand new LAMESTREAM MEDIA items that we’re presenting for the very first time.

If you see something you like, great.  If not, no harm no foul.  I hope you continue to enjoy the site.

I wish a Happy Chanukah to my Jewish friends and a very Merry Christmas to my many Christian friends.  And to my atheist friends:  I’ll bet, every now and then, you wish you had more holidays.

Happy New Year to all.

    Mr. Goldberg,
Firstly let me say I usually agree with your comments when watching on Fox. However,
I was stunned and saddened when you said that you were not offended by Emmanual’s derogatory comments i.e.”f…… retarded”
Okay so YOU were not offended, but you brushed the topic off like it was not important.

Surely you cannot have a child or relative with a developmental disability? Because if you did, you would know the psychological damage caused to them when these kinds of comments are made by mean spirited kids and adults.

I agree that political correctness has gone too far but THIS sector of our population cannot advocate for themselves so it is up to the rest of us to speak for them.

I’m glad to hear you say that Fox News is NOT “fair and balanced”.

  3. Ted Kalal says:

About Palin’s resignation. Had McCain won she would have had to resign. And that would be OK because most of the presidential candidates were office holders, getting paid, getting health care as part of their job perks, yet all of them would have resigned whatever job they had, if they won.

  4. Ted Kalal says:

I would have picked Arianna Huffington (and I’m a guy. The reason is that I’d like to find out what deranged mental processes were, as long as it was guaranteed I’d come back after the test flight week to my normal self.

  5. Adam J. Bernay says:

Bernie, I hope your Chanukah was as good as mine was. And as for your poll about who I wish I could trade lives with for a week… I picked O’Reilly, but I would’ve picked you had you been a choice.

And since I missed wishing you a Happy Chanukah, here’s a little advance wish: Chag Purim Sameach, Bernie (For the non-Hebrew-speakers, Happy Festival of Purim).

  6. Zelno Hopson says:

    Dear Bernie:

I am surprised you or others have not noticed that the lame street news has stopped reporting on use of the American baby killer bullets and the civilian murdering bullets issued to the troops in Iraq when Bush was the President of the United States of America. Apparently Bush also ordered that the U.S. Predator Drone aircraft were to only strike and kill wedding party guest in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Now back in the time of Vietnam; the U.S. Government issued only, official U.S. made baby killer bullets to troops in the field according to the likes of the New York Times. Then along came George Bush’s war and the U.S. government issued this same now mature ammunition. The old “baby killer bullets” became the “civilian murdering ammunition” which Bush ordered issued to the troops. These mature baby killer bullets kill only civilian Iraqis, according to the Lame Street Media and the media claims there were well over a million civilians murdered by the U.S. Government using the newly issued baby killer bullets. And according to Lame Street Media during George Bush’s term every strike from a Predator Drone in Pakistan or Afghanistan were only allowed to hit wedding parties and kill only the innocent attending guests.

Now that Obama is President; the bullets in Iraq are killing insurgents, not one civilian has even been accidentally wounded. The Predator Drones flying over Pakistan and Afghanistan have delivered over four-hundred strikes deep into the enemies strong holds, killed many key terrorist leaders and not one civilians has been scraped by flying debris, all because the intelligence has become so accurate and the precision of the strikes so precise.

And that nasty old Black Water Organization of assassins has not set up any more of those hideous ambushes in the middle of the street. Strange; I have been in that circle in Baghdad at least six times and I can not imagine how any idiot could get out alive, if he left the relative safety of the vehicle and attempted to make a street side stand against an arm force of hostiles. But I digress; Thank God, the military is no longer issuing the official baby killer bullets, or the matured civilian murdering bullets of the Bush Presidency. I am truly happy to hear that our Predator Drone strikes are killing only the top leaders of Al Qaeda organization and the Drone strikes have stopped killing those wonderful Pakistan and Afghanistan who are only attending a wedding of the local tribal chief. And the assassin have left Iraq and the diplomats and civilians walk and travel around the country in absolute safety, well except when the U. S. Navy Seals are not beating the crap out of them or giving them, a fat lip in direct violation of the Geneva Accord, the United States Code of military Justice, America Civil Law, and the code of ethic’s as established, but not followed by the left wing, lane street news media.

And you thought they had “A Slobbering Love Affair.” Now you are going to tell me; I am being hyper critical. The lame Street media descriptions of the same type of events are fair, balanced, unbiased, and their articles are not a demonstration of prejudiced words and phrases.

Well Bernie; these sorry excuses for journalist are simple that, an excuse, and a sorry one at that.

    Sincerely
    Mr. “Z”

Love your blog, Bernie. Also love your books; and I always look forward to your spot on The O’Reilly Factor. You’re the highlight of his week.

    The Greatest Generation
How they won the battle and lost the War
    Copyright TMG

No doubt the individuals whom Tom Brokaw portrayed in his book The Greatest Generation were indeed gallant. In fact returning home from World War Two they deserved all of the limelight that was thrust upon them. After all it was they who saved Europe from the clutches of Hitler’s Third Reich and brought peace to the European countries. Much was contributed by these valiant men not only for Europe but for the United States as well. They won the battle. Unfortunately, in the years to follow after they returned home, they lost the war. Not all, but some. How did they do that you might ask? Please, allow me to explain.

Those lucky enough to return from engaging in many a hellish battle on foreign soil had also experienced a deep economical depression at home prior to entering the military. Consequently many promised themselves that their offspring’s would have a better life, a life free of war, free of killing and free of a sick economy. In doing so, little of the far-reaching consequences were considered while providing this better life. They indulged, gave, gave some more and continuing giving to their children, many even into adulthood. Consequently, some of those children are today’s most notables and less notables professors in our universities and teachers in our schools. As the radio talk show host and high priest of the church of the painful truth Neil Boortz has stated, “If we were to get hit by a terrorist group we would recover pretty soon, but some of our teachers and professors can ruin almost a complete generation of children.” These teachers and professors just happen to be fruits of the loin of those who Brokaw portrayed as the Greatest Generation.

Many of today’s shining CEO’s who are now spending time behind bars and serving time in prison are also children of the Greatest Generation. Most of today’s celebrated politicians serving in our state and federal legislature are offspring’s of the Greatest Generation. Even some of our most revered religious ministers are part of this mixture. For the past ten years or so these distinguished corporate leaders, writers, scientists and government officials were born after the Second World War. And I dare say most of our leading physicians, whom we can’t ignore, displays the absurd rip off of our Medicare system by the showcasing of their colossal homes. Ironically they also grew up in the sixties, the time of free love, acid music and peaceniks. Because of the trash they turn out Hollywood heavyweights, more products of the Greatest Generation cannot be overlooked. Call it greed or whatever you want, they, yes they, all of them must be held accountable for the condition American is in today. And it didn’t happen overnight.

If that isn’t enough when these baby boomers retire, again the product of the Greatest Generation, woe unto our healthcare system and Social Security. While taking part in governing America’s industries, major corporations and our countries economy many of the same individuals also help place America on the skids by approving ridiculous bailouts and unmerited entitlements. Evidently President John F. Kennedy’s remarks, “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country”, no longer appears on their hard drive. After all they are just children of the Greatest Generation who was promised a better life; and they are just carrying on what is rightly theirs.

Now, perhaps now you can accept the title of this document.

Isn’t anyone worried that Tiger’s wife was chasing him with an iron? Now she’s divorcing him, hope she get’s only what in pre-nup. As a woman I’m worried that she’s playing this “damsel in distress” part….. What did she bring to the marriage?? She wanted to renegotiate pre-nup!!!

Good for him that told her “Get Lost” now they’re divorcing…

Yes, Pati. We’re out here. It’s disturbing how many people believe such an act would be justified or funny.

Happy Chanukah to you and yours, Bernie, and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone!

I was wondering: When Pelosi and Reid get the coal in their stockings this year, will they complain that it’s not a “cleaner,” more “green” gift? … Probably.

  12. Dianne B says:

Thank you for the informative, insightful and honest opinions you’ve shared with us this last year. I am a big fan and wholeheartedly agree with you in almost all occasions. As a Christian who loves the “chosen people and nation of God,” may you and your family have a wonderful Chanukah celebration! God bless you! Thanks for wishing me a Merry Christmas!!

  13. Stephen Shields Springfield, IL says:

    Happy Chanukah Bernie!

Thanks for the Christmas wishes, and have happy New Year.

    Hi Bernie,
I’m buying your book for my Aunt for the “holidays” because we can’t say Christmas anymore can we? She loves you! And great post.

  15. Red says:

Thanks Bernie, Happy holidays to you as well. It’s been awhile since I posted anything on your site (Just becaue I didn’t post doesn’t mean I didn’t visit from time to time). The last time I posted was around May when I was deployed to Afghanistan. The conversation on this site really gave me something to look forward to every evening during the deployment. I spend that time with my wife now. I hope you and our friends here understand. I’m making a New Years resolution to post here more often. Thank you for prividing us with this site. Good luck in all of your endeavors and God bless.

It’s always a pleasure to come to your “house” and visit with you. Thanks for always having the light on. Happy Chanukah, peace be with you.

Thank you Bernie for having the incredible courage to express the truth, unvarnished and as you see it, in an ocean of incredibly biased media!

  18. Kathie Ampela says:

Happy Holidays to you, Bernie. Thanks to you for this website for which I now look forward to posting my “2 cents.” Looking forward to your columns and writing many more posts in 2010. Media bias is one of the more serious problems this country is facing.

  19. Jeff says:

    Bernie,

Happy Chanukah and Merry Christmas to you (depending on what you observe :) )

Thanks for opening up millions of people’s eyes to the slanted reporting all around us, thanks for providing the forums, and a long-belated thanks for using my forum contribution (the Gaede sisters) in the paperback edition of “100 People…”

    Ahhh…capitalism.
Mr. Goldberg, (may I call you Bernie?), thank you for this oasis “between Manhattan and Malibu”. Say, how do Hawaii (a home base for POTUS) and Alaska (Palin territory) fit into this equation?
P.S. Have a lovely December [insert favorite holiday here]. Cheers – WOOF!

  21. Leland says:

Good wishes to you Bernie. Have a good holiday.

  22. Ron Kean says:

You’re almost right. We’re the ones with the scintillating and brilliant observations about issues and ideas, big and small after you tell us what you think.

Don’t be shy (Did you ever think anyone would say that about you?). Delete the posts from those who you don’t like. F&%$ ‘em.

I can’t blame you for plugging your book. What I dislike is that you wait weeks in between commenting on the plethora of goofy stuff that’s happening. Victor Davis Hanson is averaging about 5 days.

    Encore.

Thanks for takin the time in ackowledging your many supporters and critics. Most pundits tend to forget the very people that listen to them, therefore enlarging the size of their egos. I like most of your opinions and if it weren’t for your forum, I’d probably go nuts. Thanks again for your common sense. Oh and BTW, I hope you get involved with A Breitbart’s new site Big Journalism. I’m sure you’ll have plenty to add to the subject!!!!!

  25. Natalie says:

Thanks for the well wishes, and a wonderful holiday season to you, too!

  26. Ellie says:

In my old country folks celebrate “name day” according to the Saint’s Calendar. On St. Ana – all Anas are having a party. On Christamas – all Hristos, Chrises etc celebrate name day on the top of Christ’s birth. The more holidays the better. Cheers! whatever everybody is drinking. :)

We'd like to hear what's on your mind.
