Liberal Dummies on Parade

One of the nicest things about being a conservative is that you don’t have to say really stupid things just to establish your bona fides the way that liberals do..

For instance, ever since 1987, when Al Sharpton came to prominence by trashing the NYPD on behalf of teenage liar extraordinaire Tawana Brawley, he has spent a quarter of a century shaking down corporations just like his pal Jesse Jackson, threatening boycotts if he isn’t paid the customary 30 pieces of silver; neglecting to pay his income taxes; and inciting violence which, on more than one occasion, has led to black mobs killing New York Jews. But, during a recent appearance on The Factor, Geraldo Rivera insisted that Sharpton is a great civil rights leader.

Compared to whom, I wish Bill O’Reilly had asked. Louis Farrakhan? David Duke? Eric Holder?

The fact is, when you look at the likes of Sharpton, Jackson, Maxine Waters, Hank Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Frederica Wilson and the various officers of the NAACP, you realize that “civil rights leader” has become an oxymoron which should never be uttered in polite society.

Denise Ilitch, the daughter of Little Caesar’s founders Mike and Marian Ilitch, hosted a one million dollar pizza party in Detroit as a fund-raising event for Barack Obama. When someone asked her if pizza was really going to be the entree, she said it would, “But we’ll be serving it on sterling silver plates.” That’s what Obama’s left-wing one-percenters call getting in touch with their inner ninety-nine percenters.

In any case, conservatives, the next time you feel like ordering a Little Caesar pizza, you might wish to keep in mind where your money is going.

When I heard Jay Carney insisting that a leader “must be judged on his actions, not his empty words and promises,” I wondered if he had begun drinking on the job. Then I realized he was referring to Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, not to Barack Obama. By the way, am I the only person who has begun to regard Mr. Carney as our own Baghdad Bob?

Recently, when the giant lottery reached $600 million, I was one of those people who purchased a lottery ticket. When I didn’t win, I actually breathed a momentary sigh of relief. I simply couldn’t imagine how I would have dealt with such an enormous amount of money. I mean, you can’t simply stick it under your mattress. Overnight, you have to start dealing with financial advisors and accountants, setting aside great chunks of time to meet with these people and make major decisions about where to put the dough and when to move it, not to mention all those people who suddenly show up, promising to be your best friend if only you’ll write them a check.

Simultaneously, along with the realization that I am simply not equipped to deal with that sort of financial responsibility, it occurred to me that neither is Obama. That’s why he has added nearly six trillion dollars to our national debt, and wants to keep adding to it. It isn’t just because he is a left-wing ideologue who sees our tax dollars as an easy way to bribe people to vote for him, but because he actually can’t get his head around the fact that a trillion isn’t just, say, ten times as much as a billion; it’s a thousand times more. A million dollars is $1,000,000, and a billion is $1,000,000,000, whereas a trillion is $1,000,000,000,000!

That’s why he’s being so foolish and irresponsible when he suggests that raising income taxes on those earning the first number will drastically lower that last number. It would hardly make a dent even if he raised the tax not to 40 or 50%, but even all the way to 100%.

Finally, I don’t blame the spending scandal at the General Services Administration (GSA) on Obama in quite the same way as some conservatives. I have no reason to believe that Obama knew that the clucks at the GSA went to Vegas to party and wound up spending $3,200 of our taxes on a mind reader, $7,000 on sushi, $75,000 on a team-building exercise which consisted of building a bicycle or $147,000 on airfare and hotels.

I mean, sure, maybe he would have known if he’d spent $3,200 on a mind reader. The reason, though, that the buck, or rather bucks, stop at Obama’s desk is because he and his wife have squandered so many millions of our tax dollars on vacations for themselves and the kids; on galas that give them the opportunity to rub shoulders with left-wing celebrities; and on thinly-veiled re-election events being passed off as non-partisan forays into swing states; that he’s setting an example of fiscal profligacy for the knuckleheads at the GSA and everywhere else in his administration.

After all, whether we’re talking about a business or a country, it’s naïve, even churlish, to demand that the employees behave more responsibly than their boss.

Gosh, Mr. Burt, you are so consistent with my beliefs and feelings we must be sharing brain waves. Or perhaps we are both just  old enough that we were both educated long enough ago that we were both taught to think on our owns and not to just allow others to do our thinking and swallow everything we are told hook, line and sinker. And we can see the reality going on all around us and see it for what it is and not what we are told it is or is not. Don’t know but do have to say I enjoy reading what you write and usually, repeat, usually, agree with what you have to say.

President Bush took 149 trips to Camp David, 77 visits to his Crawford
ranch, and 11 trips to his father’s Kennebunkport mansion. Since Air Force One
    reportedly
cost $56,800 per hour to operate in 2004 (which Bush used to get to
    Crawford), and the plane can
travel up to 630 miles per hour, it cost at least $259,657 to get the 2,880
miles to Crawford and back, each time Bush went, or roughly $20
million dollars just for taking the plane on the Crawford trips alone. Add in
the cost of putting up Secret Service and other staff for the ranch trips, as
well as the Kennebunkport and Camp David trips, and you get, well, a lot. All, with no complaints from Burt!

Being the president is not an easy job. Any President deserves a vacation, and knowing that he’s still available in case of emergency, it is a trivial point.

But if we’re going to consider costs, then lets take a look at this:

First lady Michelle Obama’s weekend jaunt to Aspen, Colorado for a President’s Day ski holiday with her daughters Sasha and Malia makes the 16th time members of the first family have gone on extended vacations during their three years in office.
Their stay at the home of a major Chicago fundraiser for President Obama makes the fifth time the first lady and her daughters have taken a break from Washington on their own. Only once has Obama had a long weekend out of town and alone, celebrating his 49th birthday in Chicago in August 2010.

Accounting for trips out of Washington for several days, the total number of vacations Washington Secrets tabulated is 16, 10 where the family was together, such as for Christmas and summer vacations, one by the president and five by the first lady. Not included were Camp David visits or trips like the first family’s New York City date night in May, 2009.

According to presidential watcher Mark Knoller of CBS, George W. Bush, at this time of his presidency, had made 30 visits to his Texas ranch spanning all or part of 220 days. The Obama’s vacation day count is less than half of that.

But his have become more controversial because of the costs associated with moving the first family to a public vacation spot, unlike the Bushes to their remote ranch in Crawford, Texas. For example, the Hawaii Reporter said the first family’s 2011 Christmas vacation in Hawaii would exceed $1.5 million.

Critics and even some in his own party say the vacations present a bad image at a time when many Americans are struggling to get by during the recession. According to recent Harris poll, only three in 10 said they plan to take a vacation lasting longer than a week in the next six months, and that number has been dropping during the recession as people worry about the costs of vacations. Other polls have found that less than half of all Americans take all the vacation time they earn because they can’t afford trips.

      The Obama Vacation List

      – President’s Day 2012, Michelle and the first daughters in Aspen, Colorado to ski.
      – Christmas 2011, the first family in Hawaii for an extended vacation.
      – Summer 2011, in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass., for the annual beach break.
      – June 2011, the first lady, her mother and daughters traveled to South Africa and Botswana.
      – President’s Day 2011, the first lady and first daughters travel to Vail to ski.
      – Christmas 2010, in Hawaii.
      – August 2010, the first family traveled to Panama City Beach, Fla., for some sun and fun at the beach.
      – August 2010, Obama spent the weekend alone in Chicago for his 49th birthday bash.
      – August 2010, the first lady and daughter Sasha traveled to Spain for a mother-daughter vacation.
      – August 2010, summer vacation again at Martha’s Vineyard.
      – July 2010, the first family went to Mount Desert Island, Maine.
      – May 2010, the first family had a four-day trip to Chicago.
      – March 2010, first lady and daughter spend Spring Break in New York City.
      – Christmas 2009, Hawaii again for the annual break.
      – August 2009, at Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon for a short vacation.
      – August 2009, their first summer vacation as first family at Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

The total cost (based on what is known) for a 17-day round trip vacation to Hawaii for the President and his family and staff and security is an estimated $4,113,038.

White House sources claim that the First Lady has spent $10 million of U.S. taxpayers’ money on vacations alone in 2011.

You also failed to mention that she flies by herself and with friends and family members rather than waiting for him.  that doubles the cost because she has a plane and he has one.  She is like Pelosi who used about 100,00o dollars for booze and choclates, in addition to the cost of her large plane because she didn’t want to use a small one, each year she was speaker while flying to her homosexual voters in Frisco

        • 1LonesomeDove1

That’s what I got friends like you for.

    • cmacrider

Wil:  Don’t fret for Barack …. he’ll soon have a permanent vacation … unfortunately the tax payer will still be on the hook for this dilettante. 68 billion spent on the Global Warming hoax may be more relevant than your post

    • Jeffreydan

Care to compare the 2001-2004 Bush family vacation tab to that of the Obama family? Care to explain how the Obama’s can take exceedingly lavish vacations, paid for by millions of other people’s dollars, and then tell everyone what simple, everyday folks they are?
After you do that, feel free to blast Governor Romney for the luxurious lifestyle he pays for with money he earned himself.

    • concerned

Wil, like the twisted leftist media, you failed to mention that, that was over a period of 8 years.  Obama has doubled that in just 3 years, but you don’t like facts like all democrats.

    • Kevin

       Wil,
Which one of those  GSA employees were you in that video? I think I know…

  • BurtPrelutsky

cma: I don’t happen to like Jay Carney.  He makes me suspect that he was always the smarmiest kid in his class.  But, to be fair, can you imagine being press secretary for Obama?  You wake up each morning knowing you’ll spend the rest of the day telling lies and making excuses and trying to turn yourself into a human pretzel while jumping through hoops.

    Burt

    • cmacrider

Burt: Personally I thought this line ”
By the way, am I the only person who has begun to regard Mr. Carney as our own Baghdad Bob?” was a stroke of genius albeit I understand Baghdad Bob feels a little bit degraded by the comparison.

    • concerned

      Good on you

  • cmacrider

Burt:  Re: Jay Carney ….. As I understand the function of the Press Secretary he is to field the questions from the press and explain the actions and decisions of the Presidency.   Carney is completely incoherent, specializes in oxymorons and half truths.  The balance of the time he avoids answering questions and attempts to defend the indefensible.   Surely that provides the press with a perfect insight into the Obama presidency.  Can’t ask for more than that from a Press Secretary can you?

    • concerned

Excuse me, sir, the press seems unaware they are being played like a cheap0 fiddle.  By choice,

  • BurtPrelutsky

As usual, everyone has made some  good points.  All except eso, of course, whose only point is the one atop his head.

    Burt

  • Michael

Ilitch must be stupid.  Seriously.  If she would take a few hours to look around Detroit and take note of what Democrat policies have wrought on a once-mighty city, she would not give Obama so much as a cheese pizza, much less host a million-dollar fundraiser.

  • esotericknowledge

Ah Ha!  You are trying so hard, aren’t you!  ”It’s the black guys, not 30 years of Conservatism.”  ”It’s the black guy, not tax breaks and deregulation pushed by Conservatives.”  Psychologically Projecting isn’t going to help you.  Ha ha.  And you are trying to make solutions falsehoods!  Raising taxes?  Yes, when you grew up the tax rate was 91%, wasn’t it?  And look at the economic stability that followed, the world didn’t end either!  And why are you complaining about $7,000 sushi?…is that a big number that adds to the debt?  Were you complaining at the ramp up of the $1-2 Trillion dollar lie-war?  I was complaining.  You are trying to misdirect people.  It’s just a matter of child level history and math to defeat your lies.

    • GlenFS

Eso, did you actually read this?  You’re ranting deliriously  (“ha ha”?).

      • esotericknowledge

Mocking be won’t make me doubt myself and/or stop me from challenging you or others.

    • concerned

You’ve been on so many drugs that you can’t even write a coherent paragraph.  Seek some help, please, before it is too late.

      • esotericknowledge

Oh really, and what is your proof? I know you have none, and you mock me because you think that will make me doubt myself and stop me from challenging you or others, you see your substance-less claim is common and I’ve heard it before, never had anyone give a bit of evidence, but I’ll give you a chance to educate me on my writing skill, because I am always willing to learn.

    • Jeffreydan

        Eso:

Based on your post you apprently think:
      - a black person is more likely to get a job if employers have less money to work with
-an uneducated, unemployed black teenager can become a parent and face no consequences
-the current economy sucks because the government doesn’t have enough power or money
-most of the 1980′s economy boomed because businesspeople kept more of their money and had more control over their companies than bureaucrats with guaranteed jobs
-you can pay off a $16,000 bill by writing a $1.00 check

In other words, it’s very apparent you don’t think.

      • Jeffreydan

Correction: “most of the 1980′s economy boomed FOR VARIOUS REASONS, BUT NOT because businesspeople…”

        Oops.

      • esotericknowledge

No, that’s your own prejudice and lack of understanding.

        • Jeffreydan

You lost the argument when you played the race card, sonny. Now pick it up and go away.

          • Guest

No, no evidence that I lost the argument. You are running away, I must have won, right?

          • Guest

No, no evidence that I lost the argument. You are running away, I must have won, right?

    • concerned

ESOT********, you mean the democrats suddenly appeared and were never a part of congress until  Obama???? Democrats were in charge for the previous 45 years and totally in charge from 20007.  You probably do not pay aany tax.  If you want to push for something good, push for a flat tax where everyone pays something for living in this great country.  Obama calls for a fair share, but has never defined how much is a fair share.  To be fair, which he really doesn’t mean, everyone pays, no one gets a free ride.  That pisses you off doesn’t it, the prospect of having to contribute rather than riding for free?

      • Guest

Oh boy you are so confused.

      • Guest

Oh boy you are so confused.

  • Sleaze Watch

I still think Geraldo Rivera must have compromising photos of some senior executive at Fox.  How else could they justify the regular appearance of a known liar?

  • GlenFS

    Burt,

Obama never needed to win the lottery to act as though he had.  And leftists everywhere joined the orgy of his wild largesse with our money.  If you are a friend or crony of uncle Barack, you have not suffered through these hard times at all.

It’s time for the parents to return home, close the tap, shut off the stereo and kick out every one of these irresponsible louts.

  • Bruce A.

Is this the same Geraldo who consistently made a fool of himself on a defunct talk show & the search in Al Capones vault?

  • ConBelle

I always tune in closely to c-span when Sen. Jeff Sessions is on the floor when he starts hammering home the trillions; explaining that’s a hundred million billion, etc. like, wake up American, do realize how much money we are talking about here!!!!!!I refuse to watch, even for a second, Geraldo Rivera. He’s about as coherent as all the other progressive nuts. I just wish O’Reilly would stop giving Obama the benefit of the doubt. He’s a nice guy, etc….No one is a nice guy who is trying to sink our whole economy on purpose!!!!

    • Nancye

I couldn’t agree with you more about O’Reilly always preceeding his comments about Obama by saying he’s a nice guy, but….

What is he afraid of – losing his job if he’d “go off’ on Obama?

I can remember when a guest even slightly criticized Obama, O’Reilly would practically fall off the back of his chair as though he just couldn’t believe it!!!
