Political Correctness 2012

Burt’s been remarkably productive recently, and you’re all the beneficiaries! After you read this article, scroll down to read the Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Bilderberg?

Apparently the Obama family holiday in the islands will run us taxpayers $4,113,038, and that’s not counting Sno-cones, leis, surf board rentals and assorted Hawaiian souvenirs. Still, it’s hard to begrudge the man his vacation. After all, for months now, it’s been one damn fund-raiser after another, broken up only by a daily round of golf and an hourly excoriation of Republican congressmen. A schedule like that can take it out of anyone.

I probably shouldn’t be making fun of Obama. After all, I have it on good authority — the U.S. attorney general, no less — that the only reason anyone would criticize either of them is because of their race. Frankly, I have to admit I hadn’t thought of it that way. I honestly thought that people criticized Eric Holder because, among other things, his Department of Justice had green-lighted Operation Fast and Furious, which resulted in the murder of an American border agent, and because he had refused to indict the Black Panthers for voter intimidation. I was also naïve enough to believe that most Americans were opposed to Obama because of ObamaCare, the trillion dollar stimulus and because he admitted that he wasn’t entitled to a second term if he failed to turn around the economy during his first term.

On the other hand, at the risk of being labeled a racist, I must confess that I personally don’t like Obama. For one thing, I can’t stomach his arrogance. During his “60 Minutes” interview with Steve Kroft, he bragged that in modern times no president, except for FDR, LBJ and Lincoln, had accomplished more than he during their first two years in office!

Quite a stretch to refer to Lincoln’s administration as modern times, but no more of a stretch than to boast about a record that includes ObamaCare, caving in to Russian demands by selling out Poland and Czechoslovakia, and a trillion dollar stimulus whose major achievement was to help lower America’s credit rating for the first time in history.

Compared to this egomaniac, even Donald Trump manages to look humble.

I also don’t like Obama’s attacking Republicans in the House and Senate, claiming they won’t compromise, when we all know that when he says compromise, what he really means is capitulation.

For instance, he told us that the moratorium on payroll taxes had to be extended or the typical middle class family would be hit with $1,000 more in 2012 taxes. But, for mysterious reasons, Chairman Obama only wanted it extended for two months. When the Republicans said a two-month moratorium would only result in pro-rated savings of $167, and suggested the bill should cover the entire year, thus saving the folks the other $833, Obama insisted they were being unreasonable.

In case you missed it, during a recent congressional hearing, Rep. Dan Lungren spent nearly five minutes trying to get Obama’s Assistant Defense Secretary for Homeland Defense, Paul Stockton, to simply acknowledge that we are at war with violent Islamic extremists. At the very least, he tried, but failed, to get Stockton to admit that violent Islamic extremists are at war with us. He couldn’t even get him to confirm that an official with the Defense Department said, shortly after Major Hasan massacred 14 people at Fort Hood, “Losing our program of diversity would be an even greater tragedy than what took place.”

But whether or not Stockton acknowledged it, that is how the wishy-washy boneheads in this administration and in this commander-in-chief’s military establishment deal with national security concerns. Even though Major Nidal Malik Hasan had “Soldier of Allah” on his business cards and Yemen-based terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki on speed dial, no one in the Army dared suggest the major belonged either in the brig or an insane asylum. I’m sure political correctness is also the reason that Bradley Manning, a mere private, but an acknowledged homosexual, got away with removing tons of top security documents from government files.

After all, if you’re a Muslim or gay, nobody can even dare challenge you, lest he see his own career go down in flames. Such is the tyranny of diversity, multiculturalism and political correctness, in America today.

Hell, a gay Muslim could probably stroll into the White House and toss a stink bomb into Lincoln’s bedroom without anyone’s daring to question his presence.

Finally, in North Korea, when Kim Jong-Il recently kicked the bucket, a great many of his countrymen took strong exception to his young son, Kim Jong-Un, taking his place. But even they were ultimately won over by the slogan “Anyone but Obama.”

Most Louis Vuitton Outlet USA the same

marketing methods as their competitors. Adapt some unconventional marketing methods to
distinguish yourself from your competitors. Your unique marketing will attract more attention

and get more sales.  For example, most online businesses only use online marketing methods to

generate traffic to their website. By including some offline marketing, they can bypass the

heavy competition online and produce more traffic – and more sales.

I once read (originator’s name escapes me), and I continue to employ, a quip, that political correctness is the intellectual equivalent of AIDS.
And, I add (freely as an HIV+ individual) that it originates, often enough, out of a blind passion and metasticizes throughout networks of susceptible cells.

cma: Thank you, I think. I can’t pretend I actually made sense of Mr. Crick’s quote, but I think you were tossing me a bouquet. If so, I appreciate it.

    Regards, Burt

Yes .. it was intended to be a compliment.

Crick, a British Political Scientist, argues that a minority of nations have developed a political ethos and social mechanisms which enable them to decide disputes and issues without undue coercion. These he calls “political states” in contrast to dictatorships, oligarchies, absolute monarchies. He argues there are precious few of these “political states” in the world. He would argue that America is one of those precious few. His point is that we, in western democracies, assume this to be the natural way of doing things and become bored with the “political state” and this boredom is a great enemy of free men.

In your article you vividly point out the coercive nature of this whole politically correct movement. The politically correct movement, Crick would argue, is a great danger to free men and at the danger of being criticised for mouthing platitudes it is important to remind people not to allow this coercion to gain an upper hand as it insidiously erodes liberty.

This you have done albeit in with your usual literary flair for the amusing … which simply makes it a more effective message.

    Burt: You wrote:
“After all, if you’re a Muslim or gay, nobody can even dare challenge you, lest he see his own career go down in flames. Such is the tyranny of diversity, multiculturalism and political correctness, in America today.”

Upon reading this, it brought to mind a little book by Bernard Crick titled “In Defence of Politics” in which his opening paragraph says in part “Boredom with established truths is a great enemy of free men. So there is some excuse in troubled times not to be too clever and inventive in redefining things, or pretend to academic unconcern or scientific detachment, but simply to try to make some old platitudes pregnant.”
This, I suggest, you have accomplished by showing the shallow absurdity of “political correctness.”

CCNV: Well, I see that Shirl has taken your suggestion to heart, correctly referring to government handouts as bribes, not entitlements.

    Happy New Year, everybody.

    Burt

  • Shirl

Wonder why you don’t hear any democrats recite JFK’s famous slogan “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”? Wouldn’t fit in with this administration’s agenda, would it? How about, ‘if it is to be, it is up to me’ and stop depending on the govt for hand outs or bribes for votes.

  • CCNV

For 2012, let’s bring back a few politically ‘incorrect’ words that have been banned: ‘Natural disaster’, ‘trailer park’, ‘garbage man’, ‘sex change’, ‘ghetto’, ‘illegal aliens’, ‘white trash’, and last but not least…’midget’. Heck, half the time I don’t have a clue what/who is being talked about!

  • Burt Prelutsky

Renee: I know a lot of people who despise Obama because of his arrogance and his policies. They despise Nancy Pelosi for the same reasons. Does that make them misogynists? So long as you believe that everything comes down to race, you will be unhappy and you will raise unhappy, ungrateful, unproductive children. There are two questions I would pose to you: Are you married? Were you ever married? If so, why isn’t he helping to provide for them? If not, why would you have five children when you clearly can not afford to raise them without relying on other people’s tax dollars to pay the freight?

    Happy New Year.

PLEASE TAKE HEED THAT YUO JUST DONOT HATE THE PRESIDENT BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST GREEDY. IT IS GREAT TO HAVE APRESIDENT THAT CARES

  • renee houseworth

I LISTENED TO YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT PRESIDENT OBAMA AND I GET DISGUSTED. I SEE HATE AND TOTAL MISINTERPRETATION. I WAS LOOKING AT FOX 5 WHEN THERE WAS TALK ABOUT HIS FORMER PASTOR WRIGHT JUST BECAUSE HE WORSHIPPED THERE AT ONE TIME THAT DOESNOT DISCOUNT HIM HOWEVER FOX 5 DID RUN HIM DOWN HIS WIFE MICHELLE OBAMA LIKE DOGS. THIS ONE MUST FACE PRESIDENT OBAMA IS NOW PRESIDENT. YOU TALKING ABOUT BIGOTRY I HAVE NEVER SEEN IN MY LIFE THIS MUCH BIGOTRY.I SEE HATE IN SPEECHES PEOPLE MAKE HANNITY ON DOWN. WHY DO THEY HATE THIS GOOD PRESIDENT. ALL PEOPLE THAT RECEIEVE GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENTS ARE LAZY AND JUST WANT A HANDOUT. THINK ABOUT HOW IT FEELS TO WORK FOR MINIMUM WAGES AT A LITTLE OVER SEVEN DOLLARS AN HOUR TAKING OUT GARBAGE,SCRUBBING FLOORS ETC AND TRYING TO SUPPORT A FAMILY OF FIVE.YOU DONT HAVE MONEY TO GET INSURANCE. PEOPLE WHO GET ASSISTANCE ARE NOT LAZY,GAS PRICES ARE ABOUT THREE DOLLARS A GALLON. SOME TALK SHOW HOSTS SIT DOWN HAVE LUNCH BREAKS FOR HOURS,VACATIONS, MAKE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND JUST HATE AND ARE SELFISH AND PUT THEIR GREED OUT ON SAYING THE PRESIDENT CAUSED THIS THE DELIMMA BY EXTENDING UNEMPLOYMENT,GRANTS FOR THE DISABLEDF FOOD STAMPS ETC…IF THIS WEALTHY DONOT HAVE COMPASSION FOR THE POOR LIKE JESUS AND OTHERS LIKE THE PRESIDENT YOU MAY LOSE ALL YOUR WEALTH AND END UP DEPENDENT ON THE GOVERNMENT

    • rider237

wow. first, and i can only speak for myself, i don’t hate the president. i hate what he’s doing. you are a perfect example of what he’s doing.
you believe that if we disagree with him it’s because we are bigots or greedy. he has fostered that opinion.
rather than encourage us to be better, in fact, to be great, he encourages you to hate others because they have achieved. that’s called class warfare. it’s what was done before communist revolutions to incite the masses.

here is my advice to you, and it comes from someone who once made minimum wage and had a family….and didn’t take any government aid. DO SOMETHING to make your life better. i can’t fix your life. the government can’t fix your life. taking all the money from rich people can’t fix your life. YOU are responsible for you.
and guess what? hard time don’t kill you.

in this country and even with this president, we still have the opportunity to make our own lives better. yes, it’s harder for some than for others. that’s called life.

  • Glen Stambaugh

I would support Obama remaining on permanent vacation until the end of his term. There he can devote full-time to golfing and surfing without having to worry about all those political appointments and presidential fiats. Money well spent.

  • Burt Prelutsky

Brendan: I suspect that the fellow you wished to compare Obama to when it came to male fashion was Gaddafi, not Gandhi. The names are just too darn similar, sort of like Osama and Obama.

rider 237: I think some people remain terrified of being labeled a racist, especially those wienies in public office. Heck, nobody in the media can even dare point out that those young thugs who rioted in the Minnesota Mall were blacks, just as they were in the recent riots in Philadelphia. But when these kids grow up in homes without fathers, the lack of parental discipline can’t help showing itself sooner or later. Generally sooner.

    Burt

    • rider237

you are probably right. there are some, but they are becoming less relevant, i think.
look at the above post. how may of us are experiencing the least twinge at being called bigots? i’m not.

    • Brendan Horn

      Burt,
Look, Obama clearly dresses better than Gandhi or Qaddafi, but Qaddafi’s hair was much nicer than either of those two.

  • Brendan Horn

    Burt,
Obama is so vain he thinks Carly Simon wrote all her songs about him. I think Obama needs this vacation time in order to decide if he is arguably a more effective leader than Moses, Jesus, and Gandhi. He won’t compare himself to Mohammed as he is afraid of offending Muslims. Obama is clearly a better dresser than Gandhi was and Obama is a better role model than Gandhi when it comes to dieting. That fasting of Gandhi leads to anorexia and should not be imitated.

  • rider237

    thanks for the morning laugh!

one good thing has come out of all of this, i think….people are not so afraid to speak their minds. they are not afraid that if they are criticizing a “person of color” they will be labeled a racist. the term has little meaning these days thanks to it’s frequent mis-use.
