What’s So Darn Great About Islam?

Burt PrelutskyBetween 9/12/2001 and January 2009, George Bush and Condoleezza Rice spent so much time telling us what a wonderful, peaceful religion Islam is, I kept expecting them to convert.

Then Barack Hussein Obama took up residence in the White House and we got more of the same hooey. If anything, he put their gushing in the shade. He was a regular Old Faithful. He not only thought it was a swell idea to build a mosque near Ground Zero, but he kept telling the world that Muslims had been instrumental in the creation of the United States, all but referring to the founding fathers as Ibn Madison and Mahmud Washington.

For good measure, when Major Nidal Malik Hasan, whose business cards carried the message “For a Good Time, Dial 1-800 Jihad,” murdered 13 Americans down at Fort Hood, Obama told us not to leap to the conclusion that the major’s religion had anything to do with the fact that he was hollering “Allah Akbar” during the massacre.

Next, I expected Obama to explain that Osama bin Laden was merely trying to break into show business.

We also have American cities spending secular tax dollars to build footbaths for Muslims. We have colleges turning a blind eye to Islamic students bullying Jewish students and intimidating guest speakers, especially if they’re Israeli diplomats; and we have the ACLU, those moral pygmies who have raised self-righteousness to an art form, defending Muslims on all fronts, while simultaneously attacking Christian symbols with a ferocity not witnessed since the Wicked Witch of the East declared war on Dorothy and her friends.

Why is it that so many people who condemn the corrupt legal system that existed under the Nazis are so reluctant to utter a harsh word about the backward and brutal nature of Sharia law?

For a time, I assumed it was sheer cowardice that prevented the members of the MSM from reporting on and condemning the Islamic slaughter of Christians and Jews that’s currently taking place around the world.

But, perhaps that’s not it at all. Maybe it’s something even more despicable. Perhaps the media has simply decided that the enemy of its enemies is its friend.

    Unfortunately, Many aspects of Islam are misunderstood by non-Muslims/and some Muslims; due to ignorance, misinformation, and incorrect assumptions. Today, Islam is surrounded by many misconceptions, false attributions and stereotypes, as well as terrorism. Deliberate distortion and exaggerations, play a role in its negative portrayal and representation.

    It is unmerited to Judge Muslims and Islam based on the actions of those who commit terrible crimes against Innocent people “as proof of the violent nature of Islam and Muslims”.

    To all the supporters of Islam……..there are many who wish to melt into
    American society.There are more who are settlers who will demand that
    the U.S. become just like their homeland. They are the Jihadists who want
    Sharia. It violates everything that America is about. They will be stopped.
    I suggest you supporters(especially women) go to Europe and visit one
    of their compounds…..you might just get raped or be headed.

      hi wil , actually the dark ages in europ were i think because people didn’t follow correctly the religion , instead in north africa and some parts of asia and even Andalusia (the recent spain) when people truthfully followed the religious instructions they discovered and developped a lot of scientific ideas lived in peace  in correct ways and that period of time was their golden age .

      I did not know that it was confirmed that it was done by a muslim. I would have thought an investigation be done and the culprit arrested and then the facts become known. That is how reasonable people act. But having read some of your recent posts, not sure I would class you as reasonable!

        I’m reasonable. I agree with you.

        There hasn’t been an arrest that I’m aware of. It could have been a Christian or a Jew who did that horrendous crime. What does your reasoning ability tell you?

        And I agree that religion has been the cause of much killing. Take the Incas. They marched thousands up the pyramids and chopped out hearts. The Pharaohs in egypt used slaves to build monuments. Jews conquered the land. Christian killed Christian during the reformation.

        Of course, many thousands of years of religious history might be no match for the atheistic communist murders of the last one century. I don’t remember if Hitler was a Christian but do know about Stalin and Mao. And I know the numbers. Our animalistic tendencies are strong and that’s sad.

        Call me anything you want. The first time an insult was hurled instead of a stone marked the beginning of civilization. But I still believe that the essence of Islam is to subdue, convert, or kill the non believer. It’s as ingrained as communion is to the Christian and matzos are to the Jew.

        And maybe all Moslems don’t care as much as some. But out of a billion, if you get 10%. That’s a big problem.

          Stalin and Moa were probably atheists and Hitler was part jewish (by blood that is). George Bush was Christian (we still dont have a count for the many civilians killed by that “christian”),
          Netanyahu is a jew (his army uses civilians as human shields), Gaddafi is a muslim (yet he uses bomber aeroplanes against unarmed civilians). Saudi Arabia is the cradle of Islam(we all know the rubbish that goes on there).

          Where did you get 10% from? Al queda is not 100 million strong! it is not even 500,000 strong. They will struggle to put together 20,000 people at the most!

          You have to get out more and true to open your brain to some alternative influences. One never grows intellectually one we only cluster around people to confirm our views.

          Terrorism is not perculiar to Islam. You have I.RA (catholics) Irgun (jewish) ANC (black nationalists) french resistance (i don’t know who they were) tamil tigers, the contras, the PLO and the list goes on and on. Some claim to be freedom fighters others term them as terrorists.

          One never knows really.

            There’s very little information about Stalin’s religious views because of his killing sprees. In point of fact, Stalin created the Russian Orthodox Church (with him as the head of the church) to exert control over the Soviet satellite countries. The best that most historians have been able to say is that Stalin created a cult of personality around himself. That doesn’t necessarily make him an atheist. Historically speaking, Russia has always been a devoutly religious country and I doubt very seriously that changed under Communist rule.

            Mao Zedong was an atheist. Here’s the catch: he didn’t use his atheism as a focal point for why he committed all those horrible atrocities. Mao Zedong subscribed to the idea of realpolitik: a leader must use any and all means at their disposal to obtain and keep power.

            Hitler wasn’t an atheist. His own writings in Mein Kampf show that he believed in the Christian god and moreover he thought he was doing god’s work by persecuting the Jews. By all accounts he was a staunch Roman Catholic, hence his ability to get Rome to agree that he got to choose which Germans became bishops in Germany during his reign. I doubt the Pope would have been so accommodating to an atheist.

    Stop being stupid and make some effort to hide your anti islamic prejudice. In Israel, certain rabbis were issuing edicts precluding people from renting houses to Israeli arabs. That is not a very religious practice is it?? Many christians justified slavery. In fact a large number of the members of the KKK were “upstanding christians”. Yes, Many crazy Imam’s distort the Koran for their religious justification. Human’s (whether they be Muslim, Christian,jewish or buddist) have sprung some very offensive people. Do us a favour and keep your verbal drivel to yourself. Senility cannot be used to justify all rubbish you sprout. If you look at the Torah, there are many instances were that lord ordered wholesale destruction of people. Not a concept out of place in Nazi Germany! I can understand why some communities abolish religion. It has been the source of some pretty gruesome events (across the board and across all religions).

True, over 3,000 years ago Joshua led Jews to kill Cannanites on the west side of the Jordan and many of the Crusaders raped their way through Europe on their way to the Holy Land and later hanged suspected witches. But after the 30 Years War, the Age Of Reason, and Enlightment, western religious violence was consciously less.

    You should read the news more. I wonder if it would take somebody slicing your daughter’s genitalia to recognize differences.

    Burt, I won’t assume that you’re coming from a Christian point of view. By the way, the god that dictated to Mohammed those Sharia Laws happens to be the same god that supposedly took the form of a Jew from Nazareth. As for what’s great about Islam, it has good tenets and bad tenets, just like EVERY religion. There are good people who worship according to the tenets of Islam and there are extremists who use it to justify their own prejudices and hatreds. There are Christians who have done the same thing such as the defense of slavery in this country’s past.

    For me, living in the land of liberal nod, I find most “progressives” to be obsessed with actively shaping culture. For many, a goal of pushing political correctness is to change the “hearts and minds” of those who are less enlightened (and less intelligent, so many think). There is usually a near obsession with creating social change, and not through natural means, rather through force. It seems there is a near endless search for an “underdog” to encircle and elevate. This group is often a minority of the population, but not necessarily. Find a majority population, say by religion, and seek their minority counterparts. Find an example of mistreatment, or fabricate and embellish if necessary.

    This may sound conspiratorial, but I’ve concluded this to be true after endless hours of conversations with those who are constantly championing the causes of some “underclass”, fill in the blank. There is usually little depth in their rationale and a large amount of common ideology-speak to explain the motives. The cause, or group, becomes almost unimportant. The motive, at its root, seems to be to socially engineer ‘level playing fields’ for everyone regardless of other realities.

    And the most prevalent tool they use to avoid making truly rational arguments for the latest fad in social engineering is the big R. Racism.
