September 11th., 2011 is the tenth anniversary of the worst attack on the United States of America - done by radical Islamics. However, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said that there would be no religious service or leaders present, no prayers offered up to God – in others words no comfort and/or solace to families of those who were murdered on that day. For that matter, it’s not a day only for those just mentioned, but for all Americans. I remember well when it was said that on that day we were all New Yorkers. We still are!
So what’s the matter with Michael Bloomberg? His lame excuse is that there isn’t time. Huh? There isn’t time? Actually, it seems to me that time is all they have, and plenty of it. Who is he afraid will be insulted by prayers? Atheists? A small percentage of people? If that’s the reason, I think it’s time to stop placating the few, and thus insulting the many. Political correctness is out of hand and has been for a long time. Since when does the world stop turning for a few people who might be offended by prayer? Don’t tell me that there isn’t time to have a leader of every faith attend the service, and send up a prayer for those taken, and for those who remain and have to live with the consequences of those misguided Muslims. Who could be offended by The Lord’s Prayer? It would be suitable for any faith.
Lord, deliver me from the horns of the unicorn.
