Trump’s flaws are enormous, a case of moral blindness and more. However, he will go down in history as the President who changed the world for the better. For decades, other presidents have ignored or postponed, dithered and equivocated. I do so admire his courage and his willingness to be pilloried, spat upon and defamed, and never given credit for what he has accomplished.

If Trump had issued an Executive Order granting asylum or citizenship to the millions of illegal immigrants who crossed the border under Biden's watch, democrats and the media would have crucified him. It does not matter what Trump does, democrats will automatically take the opposite position even when they are on record supporting the types of actions Trump is taking.

Of course you are correct. But as your site mate wrote yesterday, Trump manages make things worse. John quoted Britt Hume who correctly observed Trump comments about Robert Mueller, “This is the kind of stuff Trump does that makes people not just oppose him but hate him,” And hardly a day goes by wherein Trump doesn't add fuel to those fires of hate.

Bernie, I am just getting around to seeing your angle to that perspective- 💯 without a doubt that scenario would play out just as you imagine it would -or will.

Democrats and the media hate the idea of a Republican president being anything but a "don't rock the boat" caretaker. Despite his shoot-from-the-lip mentality, Trump is actually taking action on several fronts, including Iran, illegal immigrants, protecting women athletes, and rampant fraud and abuse. As you suggest, Bernie, the media are nothing more than Democratic puppets, echo chambers for anything anti-Trump. Today's incurious media even transcends what you wrote about in BIAS. And its lack of even-handed reporting is dangerous to a free society. Ironically, its blatant willingness to shoehorn the word "Nazi" into its Trump coverage (to appease Democratic puppeteers) closely resembles the playbook of Joseph Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda and Public Enlightenment.

Could not agree more Bernie.. Your 'what if' scenario outlines an inevitable, sans action being taken, Iran reality. But Trump creates negative focus, his Robert Mueller comments being the latest unnecessary and un-statesman like comment. Awful of course, but most of us probably know someone who's funeral we would not attend but would be inclined to send a note of approval.

John T.'s Sunday column mentions Trump manages to make things worse. What things? Trump's public perception? His media coverage? The point is, is the focus on the wrong topics? Bernie's column today suggests significantly higher value topics. Bernie's recent publishing of interviews done by a true journalist demonstrate what that looks like. His relaying of other's comments like today suggests the same.

I admire John T. although disagree occasionally. Not so yesterday but I had to wonder what value there was there.

>>most of us probably know someone who's funeral we would not attend but would be inclined to send a note of approval.

Publicly celebrating a man's death isn't even in the same ocean as not attending their funeral.

>>John T.'s Sunday column mentions Trump manages to make things worse. What things?

If you're referring to me (John D.) and my column, I specifically stated what things: "adding to the pain of that man’s family, while they grieve their loss..." I'd add that it's also beneath the office of the presidency, but that's par for the course with Trump.

>>The point is, is the focus on the wrong topics?

You seem to think anything critical of Trump is a "wrong topic."

Not true John. Just more fruitful conversations to be had.
