Nicely done John.

Party leaders on both sides will look the other way as much as they can as long as a cretin is a team player and votes the right way! I would not be surprised to learn that party leaders use such knowledge as blackmail!

Swalwell always gave off a creepy vibe to me, even years ago. I guess my gut instinct was right as he appears to have been leading a double life. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

Same goes for the Tony Gonzales, who Mike Johnson held onto for ages in a disgraceful move for votes, even though everyone knew he was rotten months ago.

So I get why John wanted to stick up for the Frenches against the vile calumny by this Davis guy. But in this case, I must question whether giving his insinuations even more attention, was actually the right thing. Because I wasn't aware of this at all until you brought it up.

Now I certainly don't run in MAGA circles so maybe John pushing back didn't expand the reach of the story among people primed to believe it, but I fear that even though John ably debunked this rumor, the net effect will be that more people now who don't follow the Frenches and only have a vague idea about their personal lives, that now have a sense that "there's been some rumors about the Frenches marriage" that they wouldn't have otherwise.

And of course people who actually know the Frenches at all, or even just follow them closely on the socials, would never have believed the rumor in the first place.

I myself already knew they were helping out their daughter and son-in-law with their kids, while they both go to law school. I think that's a great thing and something more parents should be willing to do as a way to make it easier for the younger generation to procreate.

I had actually thought they had totally moved to Chicago and weren't even maintaining their Tennessee residence anymore. So I guess I learned one new thing out of all this, at least.

I'm happy to respond.

My broader point wasn't to debunk the rumor (no one with half a brain could have taken it at face value). It was to point out another example of how badly partisan politics have infected the Christian church in our country.

When evangelical pastors who lead church congregations in major cities are indistinguishable from "own the libs" MAGA bots, I think it's a real cultural problem.
