Has the 3rd GOP debate been cancelled yet? Is someone running a sweepstakes as to when all the other nominees drop out? Sadly, I think you're right when it comes to Republicans having another groundhog day when it comes to losing the general election barring some kind of miracle.

I think the primary (and debates) will continue on for a while, despite Trump's demands. I believe there'd have to be a big RNC rule-change in order for either to be shut down early, and RNC leadership at least wants to give the perception of being evenhanded when it comes to the candidates.

What gets me about the elect-ability issue is that most Republican voters seem they'd MUCH rather lose with Trump than win with a different Republican. And if that's the case, no one else in the party will have ever stood a chance.

Ok John, a few things I agree with, but I was surprised you didn't add the old "Don't let the door hit you on the butt on the way out". I think Mike is a decent man who made a decision to serve in a way the best he could. I'm sure he has some reflection, but quite honestly, he never would win the presidency on his own. He doesn't have the persona of an Obama or Reagan.

Oh, I don't think Pence was going to win the primary even if Trump wasn't in the race. My point is that any future Pence had in Republican politics died the moment he did the right thing, in defiance of Trump, on January 6. His approval rating with Republicans plummeted after that, and it was never going to rebound... especially with Trump remaining the leader of the party.

How he didn't recognize this, prior to making the decision to run for president, is beyond me.
