John and Bernie, I know my question is late for this week but perhaps you have some time to think about it. One of my fears is that if Trump gets in office, who’s going to work for him? I’m worried he could be trolling the bottom of the barrel to fill posts?

Just had to edit and add this: could Marjorie Taylor Greene be VP?

When Obama was President, I once asked a golf friend that if he had the chance, would he play a round of golf with Obama. Both of us were not Obama fans. He said absolutely not. I told him I would, and I wouldn't bring up politics once from which he was shocked by my answer. Why would anyone not jump at the opportunity to play golf with a President?

I once sat across from Mike Huckabee and his wife on a flight. Very delightful people and she talked my ear off. Not once did we talk politics.

The problem started when the US became a secular country. Secular, not meaning we became a country of atheists - we replaced Christianity as our primary religion with politics. Partisans no longer view their peers on the other side of the aisle as the "loyal opposition". It used to be the other side were full of patriots who love their country, they just have a different point of view as to how to solve the country's problems. Now the other side IS the country's problem. They are the enemy that needs to be destroyed. This makes compromise almost impossible, which is a big problem since compromise is a cornerstone of a healthy democracy.

You're right, of course. And it's particularly frustrating how a lot of those who've replaced Christianity with politics as their religion still evoke religion when condemning the other side (while carving out an exception from those beliefs and principles for their side).
