I'm a late comer to this opinion piece but here is my take.

In Business, and there are many examples of this, when a division has corruption or are failing in their objectives, you shut it down. You may reopen with new mandates and objectives, but the continuation of failure isn't an option. Government doesn't work like this way Mr. Smith. Government agencies fight for existence and grow in light of ongoing corruption and miss-management.

The only bone to pick in this piece is the last line. Which I would change to "America’s problems weren’t created quickly, and they won’t be fixed quickly, if at all. Don’t be fooled into thinking otherwise."
