John: New York Mets owner Steve Cohen just won approval to open a casino next to Citi Field in Queens. The Adelson family, new owners of the Dallas Mavericks and long-time owners of The Sands and other casinos worldwide, have been very public about their desire to construct a casino in Downtown Dallas in a megabuilding that would house the basketball team as well. Even large institutional investors like Vanguard and Black Rock own major positions in DraftKings, a daily fantasy and online sports betting platform. Is this a good idea or a bad idea to house sports and open gambling under one roof? Also, good idea or bad idea to combine and monetize so many addictive behaviors – traditional gambling, fantasy sports, alcohol, consumerism, etc.? Is this what capitalism looks like in the 21st century?

The only Thanksgiving songs I can think of are the Adam Sandler Turkey song, and Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant. My local rock radio station play Alice's Restaurant every Thanksgiving at noon.

“Over The River & Through The Woods to Grandmother’s house we go….”

“Strut Mr. Turkey, That’s a fancy way to walk…”

Yes I know the two I mentioned are kiddie sing alongs for younger children. That said, these plus the two you mentioned are the only ones I know of, and In all honesty NONE of these four are particularly good. Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day, Thanksgiving & New Year’s (except for “Auld Lang Syne” don’t seem to inspire the musical varieties offered by Christmas & Halloween

BTW, in regard to your question this week: With the Hegseth story on the Caribbean boat-strike breaking this weekend, I'm guessing the "seditious 6" had caught wind of it early, and that's what they were referring to in their video.

Maybe although if they had, I’m surprised that they didn’t mention it if they knew it was coming, since some Dems have been warning places about impending ICE raids

The Trump administration has largely (and inappropriately) kept the details of this drug-boat operation from Congress. So, if the Senators did know about it, it was probably from leaks that they weren't ready to talk about publicly.

"Is that possible? I guess. Is it probable, in my view? Heck no. I think the chances of Trump not being involved in the decision are extremely slim."

In other words, it was based on logic.

When I first heard of Maxwell's transfer, I thought President Trump may have been behind it. I thought it entirely possible, maybe even probable. But I did have my doubts. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Maxwell discussed this or even had a guarantee of this in off-the-record talks with President Trump's attorney-in-fact.

In Hawaii, once a criminal Defendant is placed in the custody of the Department of Corrections (DOC), where he is placed is determined by the DOC's sometimes arcane policies, and prisoners are not infrequently transferred to other facilities, often on the mainland. When on the mainland, Hawaii prisoners are not infrequently transferred to other facilities on the mainland.

That Maxwell had a downward - less restrictive - transfer, together with the timing, made it likely that the transfer was ordered from the top. If the reports of her special treatment at her new facility are true, it's even more likely that President Trump ordered it, either implicitly or explicitly. AG Bondi doesn't have the balls to do it on her own.

AG Bondi should have to testify before Congress on this. But the Democratic Congressmen should be prepared with crisp, direct and singular questions. If necessary, they should caucus ahead of time and split up the questions so they can get their questions delivered within the time limit. Some of them are former prosecutors. But as Congressmen, they can't seem to frame their questions well. If PR is a factor, they should forget the cameras.
