I cannot speak to DOGE’s access to classified info but It’s access to treasury info is “read only.” As Senator Kennedy noted, it’s difficult to monitor spending without seeing spending. Agreed that something must be done about entitlements and that will be painful. As to the interest expense, that can only be reduced by having surpluses to reduce debt. Do you have another solution?
As John mentioned above, I don't think any reasonable person has a problem with an audit of government spending. The concern is WHO is doing the audit? What are their qualifications? What kind of security access/clearances do they have? What controls are in place to prevent private information from being stolen? DOGE is making a big point about shining a light on how taxpayer money is being spent. Fine, but let's shine a light on those who are doing the audit so we know the process is above board.
Everyone wants to talk about the process and avoid talking about what has been found to date. If a very small part of the budget (USAID) has these kinds of expenditures, I can’t wait for them to get to the DOD where the big bucks are.
Absolutely. The GOP loves to point out Democrats wasting money on liberal causes, but whenever anyone tries to cut waste in the DoD, they are accused of "not supporting the troops".
John: You and I both are traditional conservatives, especially when it comes to advocating for limited government with regards to size, scope, reach, and regulation. What is your opinion on Trump's efforts to reduce the size and role of the federal government, both generally and tactically? Is this a threat to democracy, or a threat to the bureaucracy?

I saw a quote from Trump that said he wants DOGE to go after DOD. We’ll see.

"Did you happen to see the viral video of Chuck Schumer chanting in protest of Elon Musk’s DOGE work? If so, what did you think? — Ben G."
I suspect Sen. Schumer saw or was briefed on Jon Stewart mocking him for being sleep inducing
