One thing I especially can’t stand with politicians, or people, is hypocrisy. O’Reilly, as you rightly pointed out, doesn’t hold Trump accountable as he did Ossoff. I know they are longtime NY personal friends, but I still hate it. I saw the debate between Cuomo and BOR on Ossoff. I don’t know if it was contrived or not, but BOR can be a “hot head” when put on the spot. I give Cuomo credit for having him on his show. The liberal MS media won’t. As well as BOR having Bernie on his show from time to time. Senator Ron Johnson was on NewsNation recently and addressed this without even trying to hide it. He openly admitted that Politics was a “team sport”, and that Congress always condemns, conducts investigations, and legislates, against the opposite Party, but out of loyalty, never does so within their own. Politics has become a race to the bottom, especially in an election year. It’s who can make the other Party look worse. I’m thankful there are objective, professional, journalists out there like you and Bernie. There aren’t many.

In it, Leland Vittert aired past clips (provided by O'Reilly himself) of O'Reilly 'criticizing' Trump's rhetoric. This was supposed to, according to O'Reilly, dismiss the notion that he holds Trump to a far lower standard than his political opponents. Instead it did the opposite. It revealed what I described in my answer: No anger. No vitriol. Instead, calm and polite political advice about 'toning things down'. Cuomo recognized it instantly, and appropriately mocked it.
It's wild to me that those clips — again picked by O'Reilly himself — were somehow supposed to vindicate him.
Personally, I had no problem at all calling out Ossoff for what he said (right here on this website). I thought it was cheap and nasty, and I said there were no excuses for it. It drew unfair, undue, negative attention to Natalie Harp, which she didn't deserve. O'Reilly went absolutely ballistic over it, which is fine with me. The problem again, however, is his glaring hypocrisy in doing so.
Trump has literally accused innocent people of murder, publicly rejoiced in the murder and deaths of others, accused numerous individuals of treason (a crime punishable by death), put a bullseye on numerous 2020 election officials (including low-level volunteers) who faced years of death threats, harassed a woman journalist to the point that she required 24/7 security (for 18 months!), called the DC police officers who testified at the Jan. 6 hearings "fake cops" (they've received death threats for years), and pardoned hundreds of criminals who assaulted those police officers. I could go on and on, and also point out that Trump, himself, has implied, without evidence, that individuals have had extramarital affairs (Trump was even behind the false National Enquirer story about Ted Cruz cheating on his wife).
There is an extraordinary long list of examples of Trump doing such things. And yet O'Reilly's strongest 'condemnations' of him are in those videos he gave to Vittert? Good lord!
Even after Trump provoked the January 6 riot, O'Reilly seemed much more upset at Mitch McConnell for his wife resigning from the Trump administration in protest, than he ever did at Trump for his role in that day.
I agree with you 100% John. I'm a premium member of BOR's No Spin News. His hypocrisy on this issue disappoints me. It reminds me of two of your children committing the exact same offence and one getting a slap on the wrist and the other getting the holy crap beaten out of them for punishment. I'm also disappointed and disgusted by O'Reilly's hypocrisy. The reasons for it, which he will never admit are: 1) His long, personal friendship with Trump that pre-dates his presidency (Bernie told him "you can't cover your friends"), and 2) Like MANY conservative commentators, he knows he would lose a BIG chunk of his audience if he criticized Trump.
So now James Clyburn has joined Pete Buttigieg, Kamala Harris, Gavin Newsom and other non-DSA Democrats in jumping on the "pack the Court" bandwagon, or at least being open to it, and at this point I wouldn't be surprised if supporting Court packing, becomes a litmus test for Democrats running in 2028.
(I don't think Clyburn himself is running, but Buttigieg, Harris and Newsom all are, and his badge of approval obviously would give a big boost to a candidate).
I have also started to see some fringe right wing pundits stating that Democrats are obviously going to pack the Court as soon as they get the chance, so Republicans should do it first.
I must even admit that I am starting to think the main problem with Court expansion is the obvious incentive for both sides to keep doing it until we wind up with 99 Justices on the Court.
But I am starting to wonder, if say, a Constitutional Amendment was passed that fixes the number of Justices at 13, that might eventually make it less politicized because the confirmation of a single Justice would be much less likely to completely change the ideological make up of it.
So, do you expect to see Court packing actually happen in your lifetime? If so, do you think it will be started off by Democrats or Republicans?

O'Reilly has good points and his show is worth watching. But obviously, I'm not a fan. It's crucial that you don't relax your critical thinking when watching O'Reilly, as he tries to get you to do by repeatedly telling you how he's fact-based, even handed, and plays no favorites while saying that almost everyone else is dishonest.
When someone repeatedly tells you how honest he is and how dishonest almost everyone else is every time you see him you should, at a minimum, seriously question everything he says.
