Looks like we just got the October Surprise. The unemployment rate dropped below 8 percent. It’s down to 7.8. Normally, that number would be considered terrible news for any incumbent seeking re-election. But compared to 10, 9, or 8 percent … anything starting with a 7 looks good by comparison, especially this close to Election Day.
