God bless Bill O’reilly and his common sense.

Do you use you critical thinking when you listen to him?

Bonnie Hoffmann's avatar

Yep…I listen to him Monday-Thursday.

Mr. O'Reilly has once again shown that he can contort himself better than any Yoga master when it comes to helping his longtime buddy and trashing those he dislikes.

He has come up with a two pronged analysis to try square President's Trump's banning of MS Now, CNN and Politico from the people's house, aka the WH, with the First Amendment to our Constitution.

First, he says that these news outlet are consciously trying to elect Democrats. Second, he says that these news outlets are engaging in news suppression as opposed to news coverage.

He goes on to say that this kind of naked partisanship is new and that the Founding Fathers didn't mean to protect this kind of press behavior.

Further, he said that anyone who opposes President Trump's ban is saying that the supposed antics of MS Now, CNN and Politico is OK.

Need I dismantle this ignorance?

Further, I was under the impression that O'Reilly was an originalist. Now he scrapes the bottom of the barrel looking for actual intent?

In my opinion, the media is the iceberg that is sinking us all, and has been for over a decade.

They (the media) clearly despise, not only Trump, but the middle class population…the heart and soul of this country. They see no problem with an economic system of extreme wealth and extreme poverty…nothing in between. Socialism/Communism anyone?

Every day I become more discouraged and disgusted by what we’ve become…a divided tribal nation. Do I blame Trump? Partially. In most cases he’s his own worst enemy and the American people are collateral damage. At some point he will no longer be in the picture, but the media will continue to build up and support a political party with their “Democrats/far-left liberals good, Republicans/conservatives bad” agenda.

I keep hearing that the corporate media is collapsing, but I really don’t see any signs of that. Their numbers may be weak but the corporations that own them; Comcast, Disney, Paramount…all seem to have enough money to keep their vitriol going. I was reluctant to list Paramount (Skydance) because they seem to want to correct course….thankfully.

As the saying goes…United We Stand…Divided We Fall. Sound familiar? 😞🇺🇸

President Trump has accentuated existing division. Before him, it was 24/7 news outlets. Before that it was the internet where crank and incipient cranks joined forces. Now it's all three plus all the polarizing podcasters and screechers.

What lies behind all this? Mainly rampant commercialization. Answer? Sometimes ya jus' gotta say "I dunno."

What you say Bob is true , and what's coming soon is the truest yet- liberalism like we've never known. We need to be careful what we ask for , but more importantly Trump needs to be careful what HE asks for and play his cards right. Don't be depressed, we do have a lot to be thankful for in the midst and darkness of it all.

Bernie has correctly written of an unfair press. But republicans have been complaining the press is "agin em" at least since Nixon was getting kicked around. Still, no one forced Trump into the current position but Trump himself. He has long been manipulating and bullying the press. Recall his attempt to ban the AP in his first term. Trump has always been a legend in his own mind and demands everyone else believe likewise. He simply cannot tolerate criticism. Things may get worse for him as he slides into the waning power of lame duckery and even his supporters in congress look to a future without him. Perhaps his only source of saving is if the democrats can pull defeat from the jaws of victory this November by being more bat-shit-crazy than Trump.

Putting it mildly, idiosyncrasies fester and become extreme as well as low tolerance to criticism to the brink of pathological. It can sink a ship. That said, there is not a thing we citizens can do to control a highly sensitive man; maybe offer him a diet coke.

Voting Democrat makes no sense to me. Look at the past four years under moderate Biden.

There is no shortage of voters who agree with you!

Bernie, I'm appreciative you explained this 'mudpie' in clear common sense language and that your crystal ball is not collecting dust on the shelf. (I never ever thought it was). Again, not surprisingly, I'm in a 💯 agreeable mood with you this morning. My sentiments to the tee.

Free press is important, but the press today is totally corrupt. I remember when I was in high-school that the news would report both sides of a debate, and you could form your own opinion and or research it for yourself.

Not today, the press is hell bent on destroying Donald Trump, they never report the good things he has done for our country. If they did Donald Trump would be seen completely different. So weather you like it or not this should not be allowed. Most of Our media is currently corrupt?

"The Three Americans"- O'Reilly, Cuomo, and Stephen A.- should include Bernie and John Daly who are calm, cool, and collective. What a balance that would be.
