Sports journalism, and journalism in general, has gone by way of the horse and buggy. To spike stories about trans-athletes displays a pathetic level of cowardice. Especially when transgender individuals make up about 1% to 2% of adults and youth in the USA. Suppressing these stories is antithetical to the core mission of journalism and violates the fundamental ethics and duty of the press. Generally, courage has no seat at the table of modern journalism.
Good article Bernard. I used like watching your segments on real sports on HBO , when I had cable TV. I stopped watching it after Gumbel kept saying that Unites States was a racist county, at the end of almost every show.
When the safeguarding institutions of society refuse to pull out a chair for reality at the discussion table, that society is doomed. In the end, reality will always have the last word. I doubt that we will like the new “ gatekeepers” very much at all.
According to Gad Saad, a 2024 UN report highlighted that in over 400 athletic competitions spanning 29 sports, more than 600 biological women had lost over 890 medals when competing against biological males. Sounds like an important topic to cover and discuss.
Society, with all it's lack of guardrails pertaining to controversies over morality, sure is forcing guardrails on the moral discussions about their immoral behaviors. Psychology as well as the Bible addresses this: What will appear normal will be viewed as bad, and what is bad will appear normal to the immoral. Already being shamed and gaslighted we know better, BUT our children and Grandchildren will not know the difference. That's when the real danger steps in.
Except for those who have daughters, nieces and granddaughters participating in these sports, we all need to stand up for sanity and not let others sort it out. Also, this is public policy involving Title IX, which was civil rights legislation passed over 50 years ago. Public policy affects the entire public.
So true. Amazing and disappointing that with few exceptions (Riley Gaines, Jillian Michaels), women's groups aren't standing up for "people with vaginas".

Policy bubbles driven by our collective dysfunctional emotions and our demand that government respond to these bubbles.

Jack Nicholson from “A Few Good Men”—-
“You want the TRUTH!? You CAN’T HANDLE The TRUTH!”
Had it been me to these liberal journalists…
“You want the TRUTH!?
BULL S HIT!
Obviously NOT!”
My opinion to biological men in women's sports is, frankly, I don't care. This is for the women to sort out, not men.

You're right. But until women rights groups stand up this will continue. The Bra burners of the past are completely silent on this issue.
