The great Yankee catcher and all-around philosopher Yogi Berra got it right when he said, “It’s tough to make predictions, especially about the future.” But you can take this one to the bank: Sarah Palin will not run for president – not in 2012 anyway.
I don’t know Sarah Palin personally. I don’t have sources inside her inner circle. I don’t know any of her friends in Alaska. But come on, who quits her job as governor and thinks that’s the best way to kick off a campaign for the White House?
Now, 2016 or 2020, that’s another matter. Palin is only 45. In 2016 she’ll be a mere 52; and in 2020 she’ll be only 56.
But in the meantime, bet the ranch that Sarah Palin will be making speeches all over the places, probably for six-figure paydays. And, who knows, she may even get her own TV show with an even bigger salary, in the millions. You know, one of those shows with one-word titles – like Oprah.
This will create an epidemic in America of that dreaded disease PDS – short for Palin Derangement Syndrome. Liberals in general and liberal feminists in particular will go nuts. They hate her, not simply because she’s pro-life; a lot of politicians are pro-life but aren’t despised the way Sarah Palin is. They hate her because she didn’t go to the “right” college. She bounced around more than a few before winding up in Idaho. They hate her because she has “too many” kids. Sophisticated women don’t have five kids and certainly don’t have children with Downs Syndrome. They hate her, in other words, because she’s like so many ordinary Americans, a group liberal elites don’t have much use for.
But hey, anything that drives liberal elites crazy is good with me. I hope she gets that TV show and I hope it’s a big hit with conservative women, a group liberal women don’t even see as women. Think I’m exaggerating? Wendy Doniger, a professor at the University of Chicago and an intellectual of some note, wrote on the Washington Post’s website that Palin’s “greatest hypocrisy is in her pretense that she is a woman.” You see, conservative women, to liberal elites like Ms. Doniger, aren’t really women, they’re simply …conservatives, just as black conservatives aren’t really black, but merely … conservatives.
So if they despised Sarah when she was running for VP … they’ll hate her even more when she’s celebrity-in-chief of the United States of Entertainment, a position currently held by Barack Obama.
Let the show go on!

The main stream media and liberals have done everything in their power to destroy Sarah Pail and her family. They are among the most vile, despicable people on the face of the earth. I have never seen so much hatred heaped upon one human being. Truly, there is a God, and what goes around, comes around.
Lou Dobbs did a segment on Palin last night (7/8). Reporting on a Gallup poll from Monday, he threw up on the screen:
LIKELY TO VOTE FOR PALIN
19%
AMONG REPUBLICANS
72%
The Gallup question was: If Sarah Palin runs for president, how likely would you be to vote for her: vey likely, somewhat likely, not too likely, not at all likely.
Dobbs reported the number for the general sample for “very likely”, 19%; did not include the number for “somewhat likely”, 24%; however, for Republicans he reported the combined “very likely (35%) and “somewhat likely” (37%). And put both under same heading as “likely”.
So much for CNN and Lou Dobbs. Whether the result of intent or sloppiness, the only word is irresponsible.
Gezz! Mr. Goldberg, You are one unhappy person! “Good luck” to you that you may find some solace within!
What am I missing? Joey quotes me as saying things I never said and now you, Bill, question my “happiness” because of … what? Was it something I wrote that you didn’t agree with. I would think you’d be upset at the people who have attacked Sarah Palin so viciously, especially the feminist whom I wrote about in my column.
There’s an old saying, Bill: It takes all kinds. You’re proof of that. Best to you, too.
To Joey Jones, I agree about the MJ comments. MJ did push for diversity in pop music where there was little. He was the first black artist to have a video on MTV. He revolutionized the music industy and helped many black artist to gain acceptance in mainstream music. He was not perfect, but he deserves respect as a human being.
Re: Sarah Palin, I think she needs to take time to get her house in order. I am a liberal in many respect, but I believe she deserved to live her life without scutiny from the entire world about every word she speaks and every moves she makes. I wish her well.
Shawn
I am a little confused (some would argue a lot confused – LOL). You say you agree with Joey about the MJ comments. Just wondering which comments of Joey’s you are agreeing with???? …. the “insensitive, heartless, creep” or the “idiot” or what exactly?
Also, I appreciate your comment that MJ was talented in the music industry. I only wonder if his faults overshadowed his obvious and serious faults. All human beings deserve respect…YES, but Charlie Manson might deserve respect, however, slightly different respect than say…. Mother Theresa. Interested in your comments. Thank you.
After having a few days to think about Sarah Palin, I have to admit it’s somewhat refreshing to hear a politican admit that she quit due to the fact that the current circumstances were preventing her from doing her job. I wonder what shape the economy would be in today had Barney Frank actually stood up and quit like Sarah for the greater good. Perhaps Sarah is setting an example for all. “Do your job or get out”! I like this idea! Good for you Governor.
just saw u speakin on o’reilly about michael jackson…..u r without a doubt an insensitive, heartless, creep!
who the hell r u anyways?
i’ve never even heard of you!
they wouldn’t let there kids stay with m.j.?
is that a fact?
did u ask any of them?
ur an idiot!
Joey….Joey…….Joey,
It is time to go back to your padded room and put on your PJ’s (aka straight jacket). Sleep well in your little dreamland.
The scary thing is he is not alone. God help us.
Joey,
I’m asking you: How many nights did you spend in MJ’s bed? From your posting, I bet it was plenty! LOL
Since everybody else is speculating, I’m jump in with one of my own. Looks to me like she was being impoverished by defending herself from the left, and has probably been offered a job that would pay her a lot of money and get her out of the hole. I hope that happens, and that she gains enough financial independence to enable her to get back into the game at some future date. If she does she’ll have my support for any office she runs for that I’m qualified to vote for.
It really angers me when strangers to Gov Palin say things like, “You can take this to the bank…” Bernie, you have no idea what her plans are or what she has been offered. Also, I believe you fail to take into consideration the rapid demise of our capitalistic system and democracy. This dissolution requires quick and decisive leadership by someone who is able to work outside the sausage factory of DC. You fail to acknowledge SP was in a political straight jacket in AK. Check Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. She was chosen as the target and frozen—now she is maneuvering out of that position into one that frees her up to do her own thing….something we in the 48 have not witnessed. There is a new paradigm in the political world and your timetable does not fit into it. And Ross Douthat is off base too. Does not get it!
all i’m saying my friend is that she won’t make a run in 2012. i’m not taking shots at her. if you think quitting her job is a good way to run, fine with me. but her opponent will have her for lunch. “she quit on the people of alaska,” the other side will say, “will she quit on YOU next?”
look, i appreciate your affection for the soon-to-be former governor of alaska. but don’t confuse what you hope for — a run in 2012 — with what makes sense politically.
The anti-Oprah. I love it.
P.S. May I suggest an RSS feed on the home page to let myself and others know when you post a new column?
thanks for the suggestion. working on it.

I think liberals hate Sarah Palin the same reason conservatives hate Obama. They hate Obama and Sarah because people like them and they are popular. It is not their fault that people that millions of people (more so in Obama’s case) love them.
We hate the player not the game.
Elle should stop reading the NY Times and listening to Air America—I don’t think anyone HATES Obama b/c people like him and he’s popular.
MANY people disagree with nearly everything he has done before and since his accension. These expamples are above and beyond Obama’s relationship with ACORN, William Ayres and the “Rev.” Wright and now Pelosi, Frank, Dodd and many other NON bill reading “leaders” of the American people.
Don’t forget, Governor Palin received a much tougher time from the “press” during the campaign and since. It is nearly impossible to compare the two and their “treatment” by the “press.”
People/liberals clearly HATE Gov. Palin b/c she is regular lady who loves her husband, family and her country. Unlike Pelosi, Waxman, Frank, Reid, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, NY Times, Air America, they wish they were loved like her but they know that will never happen. They’re angry and bitter!
I believe she will do the rounds to promote her book and collect much needed money. I do not However agreee with you that she will Do Talk Show Host and become the Conservative Oprah…But you fail to understand most of the 53 million votes were for Her. Mccain stabbed this party in the back so much that my family wouldn’t even vote this cycle until Sarah came on board. And talking to hundreds of people a week as a clerk in convience store, My family wasn’t the only one. Many stayed home and just couldn’t pull the lever, with Mccain name on ballot .Don’t underestimate her or the everyday American people who make less than 30,000 a yr.
