Israel, Gaza and the Repulsive Moralists

Israel FlagMore than 100,000 Arabs have been killed in the war raging in Syria.  How many more Arabs have been killed in Iraq by other Arabs since the U.S. pulled out all its troops?  How many Arabs have been killed by other Arabs before and since the Arab Spring?  Let’s just say, lots.  And what is the reaction here in America and around the world?  A great big yawn.  If anyone really cares about Arabs killing Arabs, they’re not doing a good job showing it.

Cut to the fighting in Gaza.  Israel defends itself against thousands of rocket attacks and leftists in America and Israel-haters around the world, scream “Genocide.” As Victor Davis Hanson nicely put it in a piece for NRO: “Apparently the West, in racist fashion, assumes that killing one another is what Arabs do best. But when Israelis kill those who wish to kill them, outrage follows.”

I have written before that American leftists not only root for the underdog but they also root against power.  That’s why so many American leftists hate America as well as Israel.  As for the rest of the world, Jews have always been a thorn in their side.  Or to put it another way:  They hate Jews.

Frankly, I’m tired of hearing the cries of anguish from the Israeli and Jew haters.  Their sense of morality is repulsive.  Here’s all they need to know:  One side wants to live in peace; the other side wants to annihilate Israel and kill Jews.

We all are saddened when innocents are killed.  But when Israel does it it’s either by mistake or because those innocents were side-by-side with the terrorists.  When Hamas does it, it’s no mistake.  They aim to kill Israeli civilians, as many as they can.

And the world along with the American leftists couldn’t muster any outrage when those Hamas rockets, day after day, were fired into Israel.  When Israel said, “Enough,” the “humanitarians” awoke from their self-induced coma.

Golda Meir, the late Israeli Prime Minister, had it right when she said, “Peace will come when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us.”  That’s a simple concept.  But  it’s one the Israeli bashers and the Jew bashers never quite understood — or wanted to.

Bernie, I really like what you’ve said here and how you’ve said it. While I personally feel for the civilians who are being used as shields by Hamas, I support Israel’s right to defend itself from the constant and continuous rocket fire coming from Gaza day after day. I think we’d all like to see peace in the Middle East, but I don’t believe for a second it will happen in our life times.

  • EdWalton

The palestinians elected the cowards that uses their woman & children as shields.

  • wildjew

Something else you told O’Reilly last night Bernie. Liberal animus toward Israel / support for the Palestinian cause is largely animated by support for the underdog, presumably the Palestinians and the larger Arab world who back them. Daniel Greenfield wrote an interesting review of a book based on that notion: “Making David into Goliath” by Joshua Muravchik.

As attractive as this theory is, I do not buy it.

I wrote: This author, Joshua Muravchik, is going to have a hard time convincing me hatred of / for Israel is anything more than historic Jew-hatred disguised as support for the underdog. No question Israel is demonized in the mainstream media. Even Fox News anchors and commentators (which I have been watching through this recent conflict) do much hand wringing over the “tragedy” of innocent Palestinians being killed by the Jews. People believe about the Jews (Israel) what they want or choose to believe.

  • RealConservative

You ever ask yourself where the heck Hamas came from?
There was no Hamas before 1987 when an Isreali driver killed several Palestinians.

And no regional hatred of Isreal before the Gaza land grab of 1967.

    • loupgarous

Hamas, since then, has specialized in murdering people then hiding behind civilians. I don’t CARE where they came from or why they claim they do what they do. They’re murdering punks.

  • wildjew

Bernie, I sent the following email to Bill O’Reilly regarding his segment last night, “Battle in Hollywood over the Israel-Hamas conflict, Bernie Goldberg on stars facing Hollywood backlash in war of words over Israel.” It is too long for him to read on the air. I hope he reads and considers it. I hope you consider it given you were nodding in the affirmative to what Mr. O’Reilly was telling you.

Dear Mr. O’Reilly, last night Bernie Goldberg reminded you and your audience of USAAF and RAF firebombings of Dresden (and other German cities) and the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, saying he does not think journalists back then were all that concerned about the “disproportionate number of deaths between German civilians killed and American civilians” killed; to which
you responded, “Look the Palestinian people are devastated, alright they are
being held hostage by Hamas…the Palestinian people don’t have jobs, they don’t have anything. They can’t stand up against Hamas, Hamas has the guns…so Hamas controls, so you’ve got to feel sorry for the Palestinians to some extent…it’s a complicated issue that goes back thousands of years.

Were you a political commentator near the end of the WWII when U.S. bombers were pulverizing German cities, I wonder if you would say, “Look the German people are devastated; they are being held hostage by the Nazi party…the German people don’t have jobs, they don’t have anything. They can’t stand up against the Nazis, the Nazis have the guns…so Hitler controls, so you’ve got to feel sorry for the Germans to some extent…it’s a complicated issue….” etc.

Polls indicate a substantial majority of Palestinians believe suicide bombings are justified. Perhaps you are aware Mr. O’Reilly, the Palestinian peoples elected Hamas to govern them in the January 2006 Palestinian elections. Washington Post put it like this:

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Jan. 26 — The radical Islamic movement Hamas won a large majority in the new Palestinian parliament, according to official election results announced Thursday, trouncing the governing Fatah party in a contest that could dramatically reshape the Palestinians’ relations with Israel and the rest of the world….”

Is this on-going war against Israel really that complicated?

    Sincerely,
    Steve Klein

Hamas isn’t without fault but you don’t occupy another country, prevent the locals from accessing their farmlands and controlling their behavior and claim that you just want peace.

Well…I am still waiting for the investigation that Israel was supposed to do after targeting and killing 4 Palestinian boys who were playing on the beach. I wish their spokespersons would stop with the lie that Israel does everything it can to avoid civilian casualties. There are reports that mosques, homes, schools, hospitals, water and electrical services have been targeted and destroyed…as well as UN shelters. Now there are reports of IDF’s Hannibal Protocol. True? Who knows..but considering the recent slaughter in Gaza..I am not surprised if it is true. The writer says the original artilce was posted in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

    Killing Lt. Goldin…and 150 innocents

    by: Dave Lindorff

The sickness of present-day Israel, on display over the past horrible
month of the one-sided slaughter of over 2000 Palestinians (including
over 400 children) in the fenced-in ghetto of Gaza, has finally reached
its nadir with the ugly case of the deliberate Israeli Defense Force
murder of captured IDF 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin.

According to an article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz,
once it was determined that Goldin had been captured by Hamas fighters
in the Gaza town of Rafah, the IDF initiated what it calls the “Hannibal
Protocol” — the deliberate liquidation of the captive — to prevent
his being used as a hostage to win concessions from Israel in future
truce negotiations with the Palestinians. One reason for the almost
instantaneous Israeli decision to kill Goldin rather than attempt to
rescue him, is that this captured soldier had the misfortune of being
related to Israel’s defense minister, Moshe Yaalon, making him a
    valuable prize indeed for Hamas.

And so began a massive bombardment of the entire residential area where Goldin was captured.

As Haaretz reports in an editorial [1]
about this case of deliberate sacrifice of an IDF officer, headlined
“What Happened in Rafah?”, the ensuing high-explosive blitz on the area
didn’t just kill Goldin, but also indiscriminately killed over 150
Palestinians, most of them civilians, including many women and children.
Indeed, the paper states that the IDF “…shelled and bombed houses and
their inhabitants indiscriminately, and as they tried to flee homes,
hitting them with shells and bombs in the streets.” The fatal bombing of
a targeted UN-operated school in Rafah, which was condemned by the US
government and by UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon, who called it a
“criminal act and a moral outrage,” was part of that Hannibal Protocol
    action.

Now President Obama was quick to label the Hamas capture of Goldin “barbaric.”

But having deployed that term to characterize the capture by Hamas
fighters of an Israeli soldier who was at the time reportedly exploring a
tunnel and trying to capture or kill enemy fighters, though, what then
does Obama — what indeed does any person — call the indiscriminate
slaughter of 150 civilians in the interest of eliminating one of one’s
    own captured soldiers?

Blown away by the IDF’s Operation Hannibal: 2nd Lt. Hadar Goldin and a UN school filled with refugees seeking shelter

Certainly the Hannibal Protocol is in itself “barbaric” in its cool
calculus of denying the enemy a bargaining chip. But that term hardly
seems to capture the horror of what was done by the IDF in this case.
Clearly implementing the Hannibal Protocol would have been okayed at the
highest level of the Israeli government, particularly with the relative
of a top government official involved. And when a military organization
or a government moves beyond just killing the captive and his immediate
captors to slaughtering everyone in the surrounding area, we’ve moved
way beyond a word like “barbaric.”

I’m a journalist, and part of my job is being good with words, but I
admit I’m at a bit of a loss here. Perhaps “criminally insane” is
appropriate, but that is usually a term applied to an individual. In
this case, though, we are talking about a whole government, or at least
the military establishment and the senior leaders of that government,
    taken collectively.

The mind reels. Can an entire government be criminally insane?
Certainly what happened with this Hannibal Protocol incident suggests
    that it can.

Recall, though, that this crime extends well beyond the borders of
Israel. For the bombs and shells that were unleashed by the IDF on the
people of Rafah as part of this murderous Hannibal Protocol campaign
were, for the most part, manufactured and provided, at taxpayer expense,
by the United States of America.

This massive atrocity is thus as much a US atrocity as it is an Israeli one.

And if the Israeli government is criminally insane, so is the US government for uncritically and unthinkingly backing it.

We knew the US government and its military were criminally insane
back in the Vietnam War, when we were told that peasant villages were
being burned to the ground by US troops on the theory that “we have to
destroy the village in order to save it.” Now we’ve moved a step further
towards the depths of insanity in backing an Israeli policy of
“slaughtering a village in order to kill one of our own soldiers.”

Right on Bernie……….the Israelis have every right to defend themselves! The truth is that they are doing the rest of us a favor by their exercise of might, and if they could only succeed in completely wiping out Hamas the world would be a safer and better place. What we should be doing – instead of talky talky – is HELPING them in their struggle. Hamas is a terrorist group, who if they successfully eliminate the state of Israel, will turn next to wiping out anyone who disagrees with their radical Islamic agenda. Go Israel!

The only power leftists like is their own and that they never want to see leave .

GAZA has ben used by other muslims to control more muslims and ripoff the West and America primarily for 65 years with Arafat a master of near solution only to see it fly away again after having been given multi billions over the years with a lot going to France with his wife. Using citizens as fodder is an old muslim ploy to gain media favo and it is working yet again.

Here is a book on the subject:”Dancing With The Devil” By Michael Rubin is a book that gives the
details to our efforts to work with Rogue Regimes and how they have
played us like fools for decades.Iraq,
    Sudan,Libya,Yemen,Syria,Cuba,Iran,North Korea,Cambodia, Uganda, Lebanon,
Egypt, Somalia,Palestine,Pakistan, Afghanistan, Russia, China. How 50
years of dancing with devils by Democratic and Republican
administrations has more often than not led to failure rather than success.

Each administration has been led by their noses to do more of what the
devils want than what is good for America. This book tells us about the
lies exposed by the Wikileaks dumping where Rice, Panetta, Biden,
Clinton, and many others had their lies exposed. Government employees
have done all in their power to keep that power at the expense of
taxpayers. We have wasted $25,000,000,000,000 on The Great society
boondoggles where only the racebaiters have done well the rest are much
like they began 50 years ago. In this book we see America has wasted
another $5,000,000,000,000 on dancing with the devils. Our current debt
is $18,000,000,000,000 and growing by millions every minute.

The PLO, Hamas, Islamic s worldwide, Israel, every Muslim nation,
India, North Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the endless list of trying
to work with people who hate us and hate our freedom has been exposed by
Yasir Arafat, PLO leader, who never had any thought of accepting Israel
as a Nation he simply played administration after administration for
fools becoming wealthy and loved in his world while his wife lived like
a Queen in France. We have given Muslims our colleges to train them ,
our invited them as immigrants and have been spit upon over and over. We
brought our killers into America and they murdered 3,000 of us laughing
and mocking us all over their world.

One comment common among Muslims is quite telling,”Democracy is a
streetcar. We only travel on it until we have reached where it where we
    want to go.”
Does any muslim ever want peace with others?

  • David Gorton

All their energies are channeled into darkness, hatred & death for the Jews; when, they believe, Israel is destroyed, they’ll come for the Christians! They worship death, and kill because they like it!! Anyone that can’t see that is a

Paranoid??? When your family has rockets raining down on them or suicide bombers walking into public places that you and your family frequent, when you see your spouse, children, parents or grandparents murdered by fanatics, in the name of their religion then talk to us about being paranoid. When your neighbors tell you and your family that you have no right to exist, let us tell you to “Grow Up” and to “Give UP and give them a chance to be recognized”.

I suppose you would have advised President Roosevelt to “Give Up and Give Japan the chance to be recognized” after they bombed Pearl Harbor. No provocation is worth fighting back and self defense in just “nonsense”, right?

      • Marian Degner

Right Wing Israely Political arena in the power, claiming “Self Defense” and Ower using the Self Defense act ! It’s Not self defense anymore! Even Israely public agree. It’s Barbaric way wipe of Palestinians civilians! 53 dead Jews aginst 1500 Palestinians. Looks like Nazi style. No matter I support US and safety their citizens in their homeland and around the world. Don’t do anybody what you don’t like to experience on your own! I say, STOP the Killing Right Now! Shame on the Killers. God see this! Karma will reach all suporters of this & similar Crimes! Peace & Prosperity. STOP WARS !

        • A wise old man

Yep, lay down and let the Hamas rockets blow you and your family to pieces. Then you will truly experience peace, but not prosperity. Peace at any cost is not peace, it is tyranny. Sadly, some people are simply evil and are not willing to co-exist; tell them to stop the killing. Tell them to co-exist and stop the hate.

          • Marian Degner

I said to all sides the same. Stop killing! Now we have case fire. I won! You losers! You all who respond on my posts, just like to continued the killings…; Shame on you! I recomend to to you pray Gos for forgivenes .I recomended to Start case fire and Immediately do Unmilitarizid zone in the Gaza and guard by US & other sides! And Recognize Palestine by US, UN & Israel.

          • RealConservative

You aren’t that wse. If you want to see peace, Isreal should stop occupying Gaza and the Palestinian Territory and allow them to have their own State and liberties. Stop giving excuses and the dumb Palestinians will stop supporting groups like Hamas.

    • ksp48

So peace will come when the Jews stop “complaining” about the arabs trying to kill them and the Arabs stop trying to kill all the Jews? Did you really say something so profound?

    • ksp48

Grow up and act like Americans? OK, we killed 5,000 Moslems in 48 hours when they shot down two of our Blackhawks in Mogadishu. We killed 100,000 in our invasion of Iraq. We killed hundreds of thousands of Germans and Japanese in WWII. I guess I agree with you. Instead of being the most humane military in human history (at the cost of many Israeli boys), I too wish Israel would act more like the USA.

  • wally12

Great article Bernie. You nailed it today. One thing that should be mentioned is that the terrorists do not hesitate to kill their own people when that killing can be blamed on the Jews and will advance their agenda. The son of the first organizer of Hamas, Yousef, stated that he became a believer of the Israeli position when he witnessed the killing of Palestinians by Hamas in order to blame Israel for the crime. He was on Hannity’s and Mark Levin’s radio program explaining that Hamas is a terror organization that has only one goal and that is to wipe Israel off the map. These terrorists will perform any act of violence against their own people to advance their main goal.

  • mcveen

Best dissection I’ve seen re:Israeli/Palestinian conflict. The tiny state of Israel fights daily for its very existence against overwhelming support from the Arab/Islam world and the UN/American left interests. American media blankets stories about Palestinian children being killed by Palestinians and blames Israel for trying to defend their children. Is there a lesson here for America?

  • Brian Fr Langley

I’ve seen this question posed quite a lot herein, why are Jews “hated”? While religious differences were (and still are to Muslims) a historical reason, (another time for that) modern culture has another reason altogether. Marxist collectivist influence permeates all leftist (liberal) thinking. I mean why on earth would North Korea (Godless commies that they are) send fighter planes to aid Egypt in wars with Israel? The reason, (?) several basic and ancient tenets of Judaism are wholly liberty loving and anti-collectivist. Tenets embraced by Jews, historical Christianity, and modern evangelicals. One, is the idea that God’s laws transcend mans. Meaning that other tenets are in fact transcendent, and thus irrevocable by a collectivist tyranny. Another, (if this first tenet is true) is the transcendant right for an individual to own private property. (thou shall not steal, Thou shall not covet what is your neighbors). Further that a man should eat by the “sweat of his brow”, implicitly recognises that one “owns” the fruits of ones “own” labor. Another tenet is a command that one should honor one’s Father and Mother, which by definition presupposes one has a Father and a Mother to honor. That is, the most basic societal unit is the family, NOT the collective. (or the state) This tenet is further backed up by, “for this reason a man should leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh”. And if this wasn’t enough, a transcendant command, “you shall not commit adultery, (have illicit sex outside one man one woman marital bonds) Now take the measure of our modern (leftist) culture and ask, where does it stand with 1.The idea of transcendant rights? 2. The idea of individual private property? The idea you own the fruit of your labors? The idea of marriage between one man and one woman? The idea that sex outside marriage is illict? Whether Christian or Jew, these tenets flow from ancient Jewish texts, that are considered God’s transcendant word, (by the adherents to these precepts). As you can see, there is a lot here for collectivists to despise.

    • Bob Olden

That’s a great summary of why leftists and people who traditionally hate Jews are so opposed to Judaism and Christianity. But what is ironic is that many Jews are themselves extreme leftists, yet they are lumped racially together with the rest!

    • RealConservative

Bullshit. You can’t restrict people’s movement by religion or ethnicity and call yourself a proponent of liberty.

BTW, Isreal is one of the most socialist countries of the world.

-Medicine is public and they just banned private health care.
-Settlers receive money from the government to form kibbutz (communes)

      – No freedom of movement. You need identification to travel anywhere in the country.
      – the family you are born into determines where you are allowed to live, travel to and public services you can receive.
-no true freedom of religion. non-jews are treated like sh*t just by accident of birth.

      – they occupy palestine and prevent the local people from accessing wells and grazing their animals
-They are pro-choice and the state pays for abortions.
      – large segments of the society are on welfare

      • Brian Fr Langley

You’re clearly not a “real conservative”? Open border policies are anathema to “true” traditionalists. Immigration yes, but illegal immigration no. The Israeli’s have as much right to their borders as Americans do. As for keeping people out? You can’t be taken seriously. Ethnic Arabs have done, still do, and will continue doing, everything they can to destroy Israel. Preventing that is liberty’s cause, not it’s shame. A “conservative” view that takes any other position doesn’t even rise to the level of moronic. (although anti-Semitic comes to mind)

  • redrowan2000

Not to change the subject but on a domestic level isn’t Bernies article similar to what is going on in our country today with a certain minority . It’s ok for them to slaughter each other in Detroit, Chicago and elsewhere,no outrage from so called black leaders. But, lo and behold if a person who is white or uniformed in blue kills one of them , justified or not all hell breaks loose. Just saying.

    • Luis

Because if Bantus are killing other Bantus, it’s no big deal, it’s normal behavior for them. Redrowan2000, if a Bantu kills another Bantu, they can’t scream “racism” – which they most certainly do if the shooter is white, Hispanic, Oriental, (Asiatic) Indian, Arab or, MOST NOTABLY – a white police officer.

That’s why American Bantus did nothing when Nigeria, Uganda, Congo (Leopoldville), Sudan and other African nations south of Algeria had their wars and repressive regimes – but they howled like wolves gone mad over South Africa and Rhodesia – because they were successful regimes run by white governments.

  • BobinVT

Bravo Bernie. Couldn’t agree more. Israel is an island of freedom and prosperity surrounded by a sea of anger and dependency tilting toward the dark ages. It’s important to remember that the people of Gaza elected Hamas. As Obama likes to say, elections have consequences. My question is, after Hamas was elected, why did we continue to provide aid to them? We consider Hamas a terrorist group, yet continued to provide “humanitarian” aid. Now that it’s been proved that Hamas’ priority is building terror tunnels, we really need to cut every penny of aid to Gaza. Pretty sure Hamas won’t hate us any more if we do that. Funding both sides in a war is another definition of insanity.

Actually, Gaza and Israel are two Semitic sides of the same coin- but Berkeley doesn’t want you to know that. Two Semitic dogs in this fight.

In the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, some 75% of American Jewish voters gave Obama their vote. Policic does INDEED make strange bedfellows, sometimes.

        • Mark W.

You’re right. Even after he responded… no answer.

        Who says I support Obama
I do not separate support of Jews with support of Israel
I wish all you Conservatives stop making assumptions about my beliefs

        • Mark W.

Please pardon me for making that assumption. It’s, well… since you proclaim yourself to be a liberal, it was an easy assumption to make since I haven’t heard even one liberal disassociating himself from Mr. O. So are you claiming that you do not support him? Or are you applying misdirection since you just asked a question followed by a complaint? My first comment was sincere, so I will read your response when I know what website to visit. Thank you.

      • Berkeley Transplant in AVL

        Read my response on website

And, what website would that be?

ARE YOU REALLY THAT STUPID? STUPID

          • Mark W.

Yep, guess so. Thanks for answering my question.

          • Berkeley Transplant in AVL

sorry to be that blunt- but, like Bernie, we are from the Bronx and MUST EXPRESS, you know what I mean

          • Jeff

            Articulate liberal.

  • Shane

The left hates Israel, as left wingers are allied with Islamic Supremacists against the West. The left refuse to understand that Hamas’s goal is to destroy the state of Israel; it is in their charter. The people of Gaza elected the jihadist group Hamas and are now paying the price for their foolishness. Obama is trying to force an cease-fire on Israel and PM Netanyahu has the guts to tell Obama, “Nuts.” Well, he didn’t say that exactly, but you know what I mean.

  • mike cowan

Hamas is about as reprobate as humans can get. #totaldepravity.

  • CQ

I have been on the Earth since before WWII, and to this day have never found any reason for the hatred of Jews. The family of one of my best friends in grade school turned out to be German Jews who had come to America in the late 1930s, but I didn’t understand the significance of that until after the war. None of the reasons given for hating Jews makes any sense, regardless of the arguments the groups give for their hatred. The only groups that I have learned to hate are the anti-Semites.

    • Shane

Hatred of Jews is in the Koran, as the ads by Pamella Gellar correctly state.

  • savage24

First off, we should not get in the way of Muslims killing Muslims because that will be less that we and the Israeli will have to kill when they come for us. Secondly, we do not have a news media, we have a propaganda wing spouting the liberal agenda of the day. Thirdly, we have a government, of the government, by the government and for the government, and their day of reckoning is coming too.

    • Shane

The MSM is mostly corrupt as too many openly cheerlead for Obama and attack conservatives and Republicans.

    • dandlac

What makes you sure their day of reckoning is coming? If by that you mean we will vote them out of office, I can only say that 47% of America is in bed with the government – not to mention they made that 47% grow to about 53% by fraudulent voting practices. Now if you mean that their day of reckoning is coming because we are going to implement rights provided to us by the 2nd Amendment, then your argument might have merit.

      • savage24

There is going to be an armed revolution, people are getting fed up with this lawless government that supports all these lawless and Godless terrorist.

  • Marvin Katzen

Well said. But, I have a question. Why does Jew hating never go out of style?
    No stupid answers accepted.

    • Shane

Jealousy, and it is in the Koran. Muslims hate Jews more than they hate any other religion. Some Muslims believe that a Jewish slave poisoned Muhammad.

    • Garbo77

      Hi Marvin and everyone!

I believe the Jew hating never goes out of style because the devil hates them even more than we other people (if that can be comprehended), because they are God’s chosen people. And the devil’s demons work in humans, therefore, hatred for the Jews and they don’t even know why? It’s like hatred of black people, but don’t people don’t know why. Or hatred of anyone that’s not like them. The devil is very deceiving! This answer might seem stupid, but it’s what I believe.

    • Bob Olden

Well, my take on it is that Jew hating is irrational, but people want to have a scapegoat to blame for whatever they don’t want to be responsible for, and they don’t care if the scapegoat is irrational. Of course, they could blame all our problems on alien life forms, but E.T.’s are a lot harder to get rid of than Jews.

  • John

Lets face it our grandfathers were right that hippies and their philosophy of stick it to the so-called “man” governs those now in charge. These idiots are bereft of commonsense and would back Hitler if he was portrayed as an underdog. Hope Israel annihlates every last Hamas member.

Israel is fighting a modern “nice” war. Perhaps they should just stop pussyfooting around and just get it done. The hand wringers will cry foul, the earth will continue to rotate on it’s axis, and the world will move on to the next crisis within a week. The nicer they try to fight this out, the longer it will take, and the more time the Jew haters will be able to peddle their hate. For Israel, this is the definition of a know win situation.

    • Randy

Sorry, bit of a typo there. I meant NO not know.

    • LAPhil

Exactly right. This is probably why Israel is finally giving no quarter to Hamas in this latest round of fighting.

    • dandlac

Anybody who has studied the history of warfare, knows that wars are not won by only defeating battlefield combatants. In war you have to defeat combatants and more importantly their home support. Who are the home support? IN all wars it is the “innocent” men, women, and their children – who want very much to appear as non-combatant civilians but who are in actuallity very much in the fight either by direct or indirect support of the combatant. The idea that wars can be won by surgically destroying combatants and leaving support infrastructure and innocent people in place is a myth. Why did we firebomb Germany and drop a nuke on Japan? To break the back of the supporters of the battlefield combatant and get them to submit to surrender – only then was the war ended. Why do you think ISIS and the Taliban are now resurging? In the animal world, males eat the offspring of their competition – else the offspring become their competition. Why did OBL attack “innocents” in the WTC? If you arent prepared to fight and break the backbone of your enemy by killing “innocents”, then you shouldnt fight. Does anyone with an ounce of sense, really think the “innocents” in Gaza are truly innocent – they elected Hamas and they fight with and for Hamas.

      • Bob Olden

Sadly, the average Palestinian is just a pawn. I’m sure most of them suspect that they are being used, but what are you gonna do, tell Hamas to leave you alone? They probably feel powerless, even if there are things they could do to escape the trap they are in– but that would take a lot of courage.

        • dandlac

Bob, this didnt just start yesterday or a month ago or three years ago…this has been going on for 50 years. Trust that the people that are there want to be there and/or are deployed there by the rest of the muslim countries to wage a proxy war with Israel. No one can convince me they are just “innocents” caught up in something they have no choice in – they could leave Gaza if they wanted. They are there for muslim propaganda efforts…. and it works well, you see our MSM selling the BS at Israels expense, in fact at their very existence. And Israel is just the canary in the mine for the rest of the west.

  • Mike Allario

Bernie – please share your insightful article with John “The Nantucket Sailboard Adventurist” Kerry; I think the salty water has gotten between his ears and corroded his brain.

    • savage24

Are you insinuating that Lurch had a brain that the salt water could erode?

    • ScranunSlim

Yawwwn F. Kerry — I’m not sure – didn’t he serve in Vietnam? Oh, yeah — he tried to blow up a rice cache with an M79 “blooper” (grenade launcher), wounded himself in the nether region and then got chewed out by his C.O. with a line right out of A Christmas Story: “You coulda shot somebody’s eye out.”

  • Drew Page

Bernie, help me understand why so many Jewish Americans support Barack Obama, who openly disdains Israel and send hundreds of millions in foreign aid to the Palestinian Authority, the same Authority that invites Hamas to participate in its government. Isn’t such funding of Palestine indirectly funding Hamas?

I understand sympathy for the ‘underdog’ when the underdog is perceived to be a good guy fighting against long odds and a bigger opponent. But when the “underdog” is a bad guy it’s another story. Name any mass murderer that has ever been arrested and put on trial, it that situation they are the “underdog”. Are we supposed to feel sympathy for them? The terrorists detained in Guantanamo, are they the “underdog”? I ask this because it is apparent to me that our President and his Attorney General think they are deserving of release and therefore have released them. The five Taliban terrorist commanders were released to the Arab state of Qatar who, according to President Obama, “will be keeping an eye on them”. Qatar, by the way, is one of the countries, along with Iran, funding the terrorist group Hamas.

The nation of Israel is surrounded by Muslim countries who have publicly stated their positions that Israel has no right to exist. Iran being one of them is being allowed to develop nuclear weapons by President Obama, who dropped effective sanctions against Iran, but urges Israel to “show restraint”.

So please Bernie, help me understand why any Jewish Americans would support President Obama or the party he represents.

    • Richard Schwartz

One talk show host put it that liberalism is the Jew’s religion and Judaism is their ethnicity. This allows them to vote for Obama, but provides a dilemma when it comes to Israel fighting Hamas. They say nothing.

    • LAPhil

Great post and question which has baffled a lot of us, especially Jewish Republicans for a long time, and I’d love to hear Bernie address this.

    • nickshaw

    • Seven

Young American Jews are like other American youths. Many no nothing of and are not taught history. They, like many of their piers simply rely on feelings and emotions. The progressive mind set is that Israel is a bully because of their superior military. They don’t see, don ‘t recognize or don’t care about moral high ground. Morality, in their minds is relative, never mind facts.

    • garbo77

Sorry to say that Mr. Obama has admitted being a Muslim and speaks highly of them. Watch and listen to the videos. Does not his actions show over and over that he is a Muslim? I believe God is going to kick Mr. Obama out of office if he doesn’t make a positive change and soon. I speak the same for Putin and the young leader in N. Korea and there are many others that are going to be removed from office if they refuse to change their evil actions. God is fed up and will act in His timing! Watch and see! God have mercy on their demonic souls!

  • beniyyar

Obama and Kerry are “soft” New Leftist Israel and Jew haters. In their mind Israel is an illegitimate and neo colonialist creation of the West used to oppress and divide the Islamic Arabs. Obama and Kerry would love to bash Israel, and they do on occasion, but both America and Israel need each other so Obama and Kerry have to keep their Israel bashing to a minimum. Anyway, political and diplomatic restraints tend to mute both Obama and Kerry in their smearing Israel. You see, Bernie, Israel has the high moral ground. Americans love Israel and the Jewish People, and Americans also know and appreciate the fact that with this war, Israel is defending her citizens from an evil and savage enemy , and that Israel is also defending the Judeo Christian West from Sharia Law, honor killings, and all the other “benefits” bestowed on non Moslems, the Jews and Christians they call us “Infidels!” Obama and Kerry still have two and a half years to cause even more unrest, military adventurism by Putin’s Russia, the Chinese and the South China Sea, the war and destruction in Syria, around Syria, and the ISIS terrorist movement in Iraq, no doubt that Obama and Kerry have even more incompetence in foreign affairs to show us.

    • dandlac

      Two words: Spot on.

  • Cosette

What would the United States look like today if we had a president like Netanyahu? He is the living, breathing definition of leadership.

  • Ksp48

The art of the cease fire. No cease fire when 3000 rockets are fired at Israeli civilians. No ceasefire when terrroist infiltrators kill Jews. No cease fire when Arab motors kill 5 Jewish soldier DURING A CEASE FIRE. No cease fire when 3 Israeli (one US citizen) teens are slaughtered. But as soon as Israel started to win, starts to demolish the tunnels, destroy the rockets and kill the terrorists,l well then The UN, EU and USA DEMAND an immediate cease fire. Time for Hamas to declare victory, re-arm and re-group under the protection of a ceasefire and , no doubt, UN “peacekeepers.”

    • arbirator

Shall we weigh up the casualties on both sides?

50+ Israeli soldiers, 6 civillians – 3 of which were killed by a splinter cell, not an official Hamas execution. At least 827 civilians have been killed by the IDF (and this is a conservative figure) according to the UN.

There’s this thing called ‘proportional retaliation’. Israel has never heard of it.

Don’t talk about slaughter when you have hundreds of dead women and children at the hands of the IDF. That is no ‘victory’.

Of course Hamas must share some blame, they have started this recent conflict. But they didn’t drop the airstrikes and missiles on the Gaza strip and hit hospitals and schools. If you know the enemy are using human shields, you don’t blow the human shields to dust. That’s not the moral or correct thing to do.

      • ksp48

You haven’t a clue as to the meaning of “proportional”. Nor do you have the slightest knowledge of how a war is won. Ignorance is bliss when it comes to criticizing Israel.

      • dandlac

Wow, I am astounded, no, dumbfounded at your moral equivocation. Let me offer that the “Human shields” elected and support Hamas… and that anyone who doesnt want to be a “human shield” long ago left Gaza.

      • garbo77

Genesis 12:2-3 of the Holy Bible: God speaking to Abram: “I will make you a great nation (Israel) and make your name great. And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and I (God) will curse him who curses you. And you and all your families on the earth shall be blessed.” I wouldn’t be surprised if their were no injuries or deaths of the Israelites! God saying he curses those who curse Israel is not to be taken lightly!

      • Drew Page

Then what is the “correct” thing to do, wait until the Hamas rockets kill everyone in Israel? Perhaps if Mrs. Obama were to Tweet another “#stop the rockets” message, we would see an immediate cease fire by Hamas. Or how about a “strongly worded, non-binding U.N. resolution” calling for a cease fire? Oh wait, that’s already been done.

  • Ksp48

Prof. Dershowitz: Forward to “The Case For Israel”:

Most important, I argue that those who single out Israel for unique criticism not directed against countries with far worse human rights records are themselves guilty of international bigotry. This is a serious accusation and I back it up. Let me be clear that I am not charging all critics of Israel with anti-Semitism. I myself have been quite critical of specific Israeli policies and actions over the years, as have most Israel supporters, virtually every Israeli citizen, and many American Jews. But I am also critical of other countries, including my own, as well as European, Asian, and Middle Eastern countries. So long as criticism is comparative, contextual, and fair, it should be encouraged, not disparaged.

But when the Jewish nation is the only one criticized for faults that are far worse among other nations, such criticism crosses the line from fair to foul, from acceptable to anti-Semitic.

Thomas Friedman of the New York Times got it right when he said, “Criticizing Israel is not anti-Semitic, and saying so is vile. But singling out Israel for opprobrium and international sanction — out of all proportion to any other party in the Middle East — is anti-Semitic, and not saying so is dishonest.”1 A good working definition of anti-Semitism is taking a trait or an action that is widespread, if not universal, and blaming only the Jews for it. That is what Hitler and Stalin did, and that is what former Harvard University president A. Lawrence Lowell did in the 1920s when he tried to limit the number of Jews admitted to Harvard because “Jews cheat.” When a distinguished alumnus objected on the grounds that non- Jews also cheat, Lowell replied, “You’re changing the subject. I’m talking about Jews.” So, too, when those who single out only the Jewish nation for criticism are asked why they don’t criticize Israel’s enemies, they respond, “You’re changing the subject. We’re talking about Israel.”

    Mr. Goldberg
I am sitting right now in the Memphis Airport waiting to board a flight to Miami. Of course, CNN is on, and they are reporting on the Ugly Jews and what they are doing to the Poor innocent, blah, blah, blah. They will never believe anything you and I have to day because we are Jews. That and besides the fact that so many Jews in the US are either silent or against Israel. The good life in America has made many forget that we are not the world’s favorite and that given the proper circumstances they will prove it.

    • Tova Feinman

Israelis can not afford to forget. American-Jews prefer to forget. “Never Again” Is seared into the soul of every Israeli. “Never Again”, is a phrase American-Jews pull out on Holocaust Remembrance Day. The passions are on different frequencies.

The Left, led by PUTZUS and John Kerry lead the betrayal against Israel and the Jewish people. Kerry betrayed the American Soldier in 1974 and now he betrays Israel, as well as the Will of the American people to support Israel. As for PUTZUS……his actions speak louder than his weak words. Western Civilization

is based on the principles of the ethics of Judaism. The Democracy we enjoy in the West is reflected in the Middle East through Israel only.

Let’s keep it simple: If my neighbor was throwing stones over the fence at my kids, I would warn him – ONCE !! Thereafter, I would not care what my other neighbors thought and said as I protected my own.

Let the Left squeal in the ignominious wails – it’s music to the ears of those who stand on principle.

Well said, Bernie. The Left forgets their World History and History of Western Civ. Even as far back as when the prophet Daniel worked in the court of the king Scriptures read: “And certain men approached the King and accused the Jews” !

  • Kevin M. Sullivan

The American left is so stupid that I’m embarrassed for them, Israel is surrounded by enemies and is doing the right thing, and our administration is a joke. I can’t wait for the mid-term elections.

  • morefandave

There is also the lack of perspective. Israel is the power compared to the Palestinians in Gaza, who are the relative underdog. But look at the larger perspective: Israel is surrounded by Muslim nations, the most friendly of which merely tolerate Israel’s existence, at least one of which is about to become a nuclear power (with more likely to follow-Saudi Arabia to protect itself from Iran) sworn to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Who’s the power and who’s the underdog in this perspective? When you look at liberal hostility to Israel, even in this larger perspective, the only explanation of the consistency of the hostility is anti-Semitism.

    • Drew Page

Right before Hitler blew his brains out in his bunker, he was an “underdog”. How much sympathy does he deserve?

About as much as he got. I’m hoping Hamas sympathy will get to normal levels.

  • billmorgenstein

What is sometimes forgotten is that Jews and Israel are held to a higher standard by many. They expect those with a 14th century mentality to be brutal and uncivilized. Add that to the irrational anti-Jewish hatred, plus those that are to lazy to do unbiased research, and the media looking for starling news, this is what you get.

  • delble

For the first time in a long time, I can agree totally with Bernie. These people are such hypocrites. Moralists? How about Morons instead? They ignore the atrocities of ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Muslim Quran who insist that killing and/or suicide bombing is justified by their so-called “religion.” Years ago, Churchill said “Islam is the most retrograde force in the world.” This explains one of the top reasons this president, after his election in 2008, sent the sculpture of Churchill that was in the Oval Office back to England. He is a Muslim at heart.

    • Stimpy

Dinesh explained that in the documentary “2016”. Obama’s father was an anti-colonialist Kenyan. Obama hates former colonialist powers like Great Britain, Germany … and the United States. • justintime

    As a
student of the Bible and a World War II buff, let me state in no uncertain
terms that I consider myself to be a very, very strong supporter of the nation
of Israel and I’m not afraid or ashamed to say it. I am shocked and outraged
and condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the anti-semitic demonstrations
around the world, and in particular in Western Europe, against Israel—the sole
democracy in the Middle East. Israel, surrounded by nations that make no secret
about their intentions to erase Israel from the face of the Earth, is receiving
reprehensible condemnations from the UN ostensibly for war crimes and European
nations for defending themselves against those nations who would do them harm. What
little lip service Barack Obama has given to Israel can be at best described as
weak. The Jewish people predate Islam and Muslims and claim a right to the land
known as the “cradle of civilization,” the land of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There
cannot be a more dangerous place on the planet for the Jews. What other race of
human beings have suffered and been persecuted more throughout human history than
the Jewish race? Just over 60 years ago, Hitler, with his “Final Solution” exterminated
approximately six million Jews during the Holocaust before they were finally
allowed to return to their historic homeland, where they reside today and have
vowed to never leave again. Israel has the universal right to protect itself
against all enemies, foreign and domestic, same as the United States. Make no
mistake about it, if the tables were turned and Hamas had the upper hand, they
would do to Israel exactly the same as Israel is doing to them— times a
hundred. How would you feel if you walked out your front door every day and
every one of your neighbors had a gun trained on your head?

How about you people stop telling us that “leftists” are anti-American and anti-Jewish??? How about you stop telling us that Jewish people are too ignorant to figure out which political party to vote for??? How about we have a conversation about finding a way to create a two state solution that gets noboby else from either side killed???

      • Mr. Common Sense

I didn’t say anything about anybody being too ignorant to figure out what political party to vote for. I only made the statement that I don’t understand why the Jewish population in America, votes so heavily Democrat. And it would be great if the two sides could come to some sort of an agreement. But this has been going on for decades, and unfortunately, Hamas has gotten involved and basically now made it a near impossibility. They want Israel disolved and the Jews dead. Kind of hard to negotiate under those circumstances…

        • Tova Feinman

I try to answer this perennial question about Jewish support for democrats. I’ll say it again. Many Jews became Democrats during the Civil Rights movement. They still see the Democratic Party as the party of JFK, RFK, and the fight for equality. They haven’t grasped YET that the party of JFK and RFK is DEAD. It has morphed into the group-think, ideologically rigid party of extreme Left wing orthodoxy. I think many Jews hold their collective breath waiting for the party to come to its senses. That is never going to happen. The Left owns the Democratic party and it no longer stands for equality and freedom. It stands for gimme what you have, grievances, and self-pitying protected groups.

          • Mr. Common Sense

I appreciate the information. Makes perfect sense to me.

          • Tova Feinman

I made the switch from being a loyal democrat (voted for Obama in 2008 happily, UGH) to being passionate about Romney in 2012. My husband has always been a Republican and has taken some grief from me over the years. I’m blessed that he’s NOT an “I told you so kind of guy”.

          • Mr. Common Sense

I consider myself a moderate. I have never voted for a Democrat Presidential Candidate, but I have for House, Senate and Governor’s races before. I try to go by how they conduct themselves and what they say. The problem is, most have gone so far left there is no way I could vote for them. Your husband is a good man.

          • Find the Truth

Too far left??? Please, this government is center right, your political spectrum is skewed.

          • Mr. Common Sense

So you are saying that the President, the House Minority Leader (who was the Majority Leader for two years) and the Senate Majority Leader are Center Right? And, you think that over the last six years the government in general has operated Center Right?

          • Find the Truth

            Yes…

          • Mr. Common Sense

Well, if my political spectrum is skewed, yours is greatly warped. But, that is what is great about this country, you can not only believe what you believe, you can tell people too.

          • Find the Truth

Mine is the accepted version, 99.99% of the world views it my way. You have the other 1/10th of 1%. Facts are facts, I guess you have no use for them???

          • http://johndalybooks.com/ John Daly

I haven’t been paying too much attention to this guy, but it’s kind of neat to see that we have our first spoof poster.

          • Find the Truth

I’m a spoof poster? If you’re talking to me, I suggest you need to move back to the REALITY based world, where history, political science and truth are practiced. You sit in these little conservative bubbles and repeat the same lies to one another, most have done it so long that they can’t remember what the real truth is anymore. I’m here, I challege you to go to a liberal site, expand your horizons, maybe, just maybe you’ll learn something and you’ll get to see things presented in a different way.

          • http://johndalybooks.com/ John Daly

You’re a caricature, man. A blatant one. I don’t buy for a second that you’re even trying to be taken seriously. But by all means, continue on. It’s kind of amusing.

          • Mr. Common Sense

Yes, the accepted version by you. Take a poll of the people commenting here and see if the numbers match yours. I bet they don’t. You haven’t given any facts. All you have given is your extremely biased opinion.
Here is a fact. There was a 72 hour cease fire and Hamas broke it in 3 hours. That is a fact. And you might want to check your math. I would be part of the 1/100th of 1%, not 1/10th of 1%….if you had any idea of what you are talking about.

          • Find the Truth

The people commenting here are wrong about 99.99% of the time…just like you are. Pick a university history department or political science department, anyone you like…they’ll all agree with me.

          • Mr. Common Sense

Again, you have no proof of anything, you have your opinion. You cannot base your opinion on university staff, which are nearly always liberal, as that is a small percentage of the population. You have to base it upon the political make up of the country. All polling data, no matter who sponsors or does the poll, will show a varying split between liberal and conservative views. If what you say is true, 99% of the polling answers would favor the liberal answer.

          • Jeff

Perhaps it’s the Stockholm syndrome. I can’t understand it, either.

          • Tova Feinman

            More like wishful thinking.

          • Find the Truth

Another one who seems to believe that Jews are too ignorant to figure out who to vote for…or in this case, too mentally ill to figure out who to vote for…and yet you pretend to be a friend to the Jews??? Mocking people doesn’t make you a friend but a foe…

          • Drew Page

I can understand why Jewish Americans years ago, but as you stated the Democrat party of John Kennedy is as dead as he is. Kennedy would have been considered a conservative by today’s standards. Kennedy would have never been supportive of any country that supported terrorism.

          • Tova Feinman

I agree, but the Jewish community was extremely heavily invested in the Civil Rights movement. There is a deep loyalty for its outcome and the fact that we have a black president is the culmination of a lot of hard work on the part of a lot of Jews. Seeing Obama and the Left morph into our mortal enemy doesn’t come easily. I’m getting there. Many other Jews haven’t made the leap.

          • Drew Page

At least I can understand the Jewish community’s commitment to Civil Rights. I think that all decent, fair minded people, regardless of their political party, believe in equal opportunity for all Americans, regardless of their race. I also believe that most Americans believe in providing social safety nets for our citizens who, due to age or disability, cannot support themselves, but no one likes being played for a sucker by able bodied people who expect other people to pay their bills when they are capable of doing so themselves.

          • Find the Truth

Exactly what kind of statement is this? “Seeing Obama and the Left morph into our MORTAL ENEMY doesn’t come easily”…you need to explain that statement as you’re talking about your fellow Americans. We have a political system that is supposed to eliminate such rage, yet you appear with that statement to NO LONGER support a system where the MAJORITY runs the government…This President was ELECTED twice, the Unites States Senate is run by Democrats because they were ELECTED by a much larger majority than Republicans could muster. If you don’t like the way our system works, I suggest you move to a different country. We don’t do well with traitors in America, we throw them in prison, and that statement was almost treasonous.

          • Find the Truth

What we have here is projection…take your faults and project them on to your opponent. The right is the party imposing purity tests, the right is where all the battles for conformity are occuring, the right is engaged in a death battle for control of the party. Your suggestion that the left is ideologiacally rigid is ABSURD…look in the mirror pal.

        • Find the Truth

It is neccessary to stop killing before any talking can start…that goes for both sides.

      • Jeff

It takes two sides… with BOTH wanting the same solution. Ask Hamas if it wants to share…anything. The biggest problem with Americans is that we believe people in that part of the world should think as rationally as we do. They don’t. That’s why the conflict will go on, and on, and on. Hamas is like the American Left: compromise means total surrender to their demands.

        • Find the Truth

Do not compare the American left with Hamas, that is PREPOSTEROUS…the ACA WAS A COMPROMISE with the right, it was a creation of the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation. Please stop projecting the rights faults onto the left…

      • Drew Page

How do you reach a compromise with someone who has sworn to kill you, your children and everyone else in your family? Where should the “compromise” lie, agreeing that it’s OK if they only kill half your family? Have a conversation about that.

        • Find the Truth

Are you in favor of permanent war??? Because that’s what we’ve had going on in the area for decades…

  • Matt McLaughlin

what if Herzl just stayed in Budapest, Bernie? What if Nixon had just let Israel diminish? What if we listened to george Marshall instead of truman?

  • Michael Dean Lewis

Thank you Bernie for being a beacon in publicly stating and proving that the reality is a far cry from what the media wants people to believe!

  • rbblum

Military confrontation IS an act of war. And, as during any military conflict, women, children AND MEN are killed.

  • Mr. Common Sense

I agree with Sniper2535. I find it amazing that the American Jewish population votes heavily Democrat.

    • Find the Truth

Because American Jews are AMERICANS first…no rational American can vote for the “conservative” party, the “conservatives” are anti-American.

      • itasara

That is a ridiculous comment showing a bias that makes no sense. We have a two party for the most part system..conservatives are not anti-American. Your statement is not much different than the arabs who are anti-semitic. Why don’t you say democrats are anti-american because they back a president that lied to us on many fronts.

        • Ted Crawford

Wasting your time with that one! They are a possessed with common sense, as Hillary Clinton is with Moral Values! More can be gained by debating a Gerbil than that poor delusional soul!

          • Find the Truth

I see you’re still name calling and demonizing…it must be because you have nothing…

        • JMax

Then why is Bernie saying American Leftists hate America not just as ridiculous?

        • Find the Truth

Bernie says “leftists” are anti-American, I say “right wing conservatives” are anti-American. You want to have a debate, stop the name calling, it’s NOT ok when you do it… The Arabs are a semetic people, you need to learn the definition of “semetic”.

          • Tim Ned

I believe the quote from Bernie states “so many …. hate America”. Look at the worldwide Occupy movement, or the demonstrations of the G8’s. This I would state is clearly those on the left and their stance is against the very free enterprise system of our society. I believe yes, they hate America

          • Find the Truth

The demonstrations are NOT to eliminate the free enterprise system but to SHARE THE REWARDS of the system more equally. Societies that reward ONLY the top end up disintegrating, our founders understood this and wanted to create a society where a large middle class could thrive. We don’t have that right now…

          • Drew Page

You seem to be pretty good at name calling yourself. You say any “right-wing conservatives” are anti-American. I don’t agree.

          • Find the Truth

I’m handing back what I was given…you call names, so do I…tit for tat.

It’s very tedious to have to figure out whether the dead child in the photo is from Gaza or Syria in order to determine how outraged I am.

  • gbandy

First Obama is absolutely clueless of how to handle the Middleast and of course Russia. Now how many Christians have also been killed by ISIS? Or every where in the Middleast? It is ironic if you really look at history and see the similarities of Today and pre-war Europe. Putin is the new Hitler/ Stalin and Obama is like Chamberlain. Either way this is only going to get worse and will be supported to getting worse by the Liberals.

    • JMax

      Your solution is…..?

      • gbandy

Simple never elect a Community Organizer but elect a real leader.

        • Lc Goodfellow

” … take that you old fool, Max, you and your type make me so mad, I don’t know which f I nger to give you.

        • Find the Truth

and who would that be??? George Bush??? Ronald Reagan??? One started wars without evidence the other RAN from every confilict… You REALLY need to retire that “community organizer” meme, the man has been President for 5 1/2 years…and let’s talk about the experience of Bush, what did he do before being elected? Oh that’s right, he held the WEAKEST governorship in America. Before that??? Oh he “owned” a baseball team that somebody else bought for him…

          • gbandy

You are just delusional. Obama has already received the Liar in Chief award, the worst President in history award, and he can keep his Nobel Peace Prize money.

          • Find the Truth

Hahaha…more right wing projection. The worst President was the last guy, Reagan is right near the top of that list as well. He’s screwed the middle class yet you delusional folks kept voting for him anyway.

          • Matt McLaughlin

            but he’s not Bush!

    • itasara

I am Jewish and I never voted for Obama. I saw right thru him from the get go but I had no chance but to give him a chance. Well, that chance is over. He is not a leader.

      • Ted Crawford

Perhaps you might have read his books. While that would still not have given you a choice, you would have known better than to have given him a chance!

      • JDinSTL

        Are you an orthodox Jew?

Well said Bernie. One look at the headlines on CNN and USA Today would lead the uniformed to believe a quite different scenario than the one being played out. Even Joan Rivers, who I normally detest, gets it right.

Perhaps the situation is a bit more complex than either the leftists nor the Goldbergists could ever allow themselves to admit.

    • Ted Crawford

Not a tiny bit of it! There is only two possible ways to “Fundamentally Transform” a Free Society!
One is Anarchy, clearly that isn’t his intention and the other is some form of far left government!
The situation was very easily discernible simply by reading his books and adequately reinforced by even a cursory study of his upbringing and background!

      • Lc Goodfellow

Couldn’t you have worked in there, somewhere, “… not even a smidgen ! ….”

Short Version: Edward Said at his best was a hack liar a few levels above Noam Chomsky but has been an intellectual god to the intellectual and pseudo-intellectual Left….

At this best – they are knowingly dishonest and shallow and don’t care about facts…..It is emotion and feeling good about themselves that is the end that justifies the rather maddening ends…. I can stand a truly ignorant person with ease…… I can’t stand these people…….

    • Find the Truth

The ENTIRETY of the Rights argument consists of emotional appeals today…STOP PROJECTING.

  • scott autry

When Edward Said’s Orientalism has been required (uncritical) reading in a wide variety of departments throughout the humanities in college since the early 1990s, what do you expect?

After I read the book and couldn’t believe how it was passed off in a course, I started noting its incredible status everywhere. I actually took pictures of it in my small college bookstore to show how it was all over the shelves….over the following too many years in different, far bigger universities, when buying books for courses, I’d usually do a rough tally of how well it still thrived….

If reading Saul Alinsky is an excellent insight into the political Left as diverse as Hillary and Obama, Edward Said is an eye-opener if you want an idea about part of the vacuous, bankrupt underpinnings of their – well – masturbatory “intellectualism” – from the Obamas down to your Occupy Wall Street types to the average one you can knock in the head at your corner cappuccino shop if you throw a rock (and please throw it hard) – and start with his Culture and Imperialism. Then, though it has thankfully been a few years since I tried this experiment, take a list of the scholarly critics of Orientalism that came out soon after it was written, go to a college bookstore, and see how far outnumbered their books against Said are to that book…..I can tell you I never heard them mentioned in multiple courses in different disciplines….

(And I don’t recommend ridiculing him in one of those intellectual meccas where you can sip incredibly overpriced coffees at those street corner shops – unless you want multiple people to stone you……)

Israeli leaders must answer to its own citizens, not to Jew-hating leftists.
If only Obama cared as much about America as Netanyahu does about Israel, the world would be better off.

    • joepotato

Obama aka Soetoro has no allegiance to the USA… He’s a fraud 100%… and he has the fake ID to prove it… but don’t take my word for it… do your own research… here’s a place to start… the “commieblaster” site

what’s more Leftist than Zionism? A russian idea, Socialist country. Get a clue.

        Aryan nation much?

    • Ted Crawford

Israel, being the only true Democracy, contrary to the idiotic opinion of Matt McLobotomy, surrounded by hostile Jihadist Nations, some armed with Nuclear Weapons and some soon to be, must, if they intend to survive, have the attitude, “I don’t care if they like me, i only care that they fear me!” PERIOD!!

    • Lc Goodfellow

A president would care about these things.
A community organizer … not so much.

      • Stimpy

More like, as we say in St. Louis, a community bleep disturber.

  • jackietreehorn3

Excellent blog. If Canadians had a charter that called for the extinction of all Americans(as Hamas does for Jews and Israel), and fired rockets at civilian targets, what would be the United States military response? I can only assume it would be 10 fold to what’s happening in Gaza. Where was this outrage for the loss of innocent life during the years of drone killings ordered by Obama in Pakistan and Afghanistan? Hundreds of innocent people have been killed while we hunted our enemies hiding under the shield of innocent civilians. I hate innocent people being murdered, but what’s the saying? People in glass houses…

    • Ben-Lavi

So very true. It is not the victims that seems to upset them, it is who they perceive to be the “victimizer”. No massive protests and hysterics in Europe over Syria or the tens of thousands of Christians being ethnically cleansed (many being killed as well), in Mosul.
No Jews involved there…move along nothing to see or be outraged about.
This is beyond obvious to me.

    • Matt McLaughlin

canada is such a b-word for israel it named one of its rocky mountains after Leo Amery.

  • Brian Fr Langley

At long last the right answer to the gargantuan double standard applied to Israel. (by seemingly everybody but conservatives and evangelicals) It is anti-Semitism pure and simple. That anti-Semitism even exists today is perverse. When Europe ascended to world hegemony in the 18th and 19th century, Jews were disliked in large part, because they made up the bulk of the middle class, (in a time when Europe was really only two classes, 1% filthy rich, and 99%desperately poor). In this setting envy and jealousy are not hard to come by. BUT, the reason for a successful Jewish middle class, was itself rooted in anti-Semitism. Although hard to believe in our own day and age, European nations did not allow Jews to own land. Now fathom how one feeds oneself in a time when all Europe was basically agrarian, and you can’t legally own land to grow crops? All that was open to Jews was as merchants or money lenders. (Christians charging Christians interest was considered sinful). That European anti-Semitism culminated in the holocaust will go down in history as one of humanity’s most shameful events. It will NOT happen again. Tens of millions of right thinking folks, will pay any cost to see that it doesn’t.

    • Matt McLaughlin

most shameful events….” what a joke. what about the famine against E Indians caused by the East India Company that killed 10 million people in 1770? But theyre not considered ‘white’ so we dont mention it. And Stalin was 6 x as worse as Hitler. But don’t mention that.

      • Brian Fr Langley

You need to read the comment again. I said, ONE of humanity’s most shameful event. You could also include the Ottoman Empires murdering of some 1-2 million Armenian Christians in 1915.

        • Ted Crawford

Were you to simply state,”The grass was green” this denny dimwit would respond with some inane Anti-Semantic rhetoric!

  • Tim Ned

“We all are saddened when innocents are killed.” I respect that you are using this text in the context of decent thinking people and I know you mean it. I don’t believe that those who condemn Israel, fit that mindset. When I see the bodies of children lain out for the press on CNN I am appalled as it is so apparent why they are doing so.

  • Tova Feinman

The hardest job of a Jewish mom is to explain to their young children why they grow up in a world that has for millennia sought their deaths. How do you tell your tearful child, who came home from Hebrew School and was beaten up by non-Jewish children while being called “Jesus-killer”, “you should have died in the gas chambers”, “dirty pigs”…I could go on. All totally acceptable things to say in the minds of many in the broader culture. When that happened to me, my grandmother wiped off the blood, wiped my tears, and said “Tova, your best revenge against those who hate us is to excel at what you are best at, and make them come to you for your skills.” My grandmother was a very wise woman. How many virilent Jew haters turn to Jewish physicians, psychologists, medical researchers, lawyers, accountants, financial experts, heck even diamond merchants, when they want something done right. We get the last laugh. They are just too stupid to know it.

    • Matt McLaughlin

14 million and shrinking, let alone the ambiguous definition of a Jew these days.

      • Tova Feinman

We are a tiny, but resilient, group. We have to be. The definition of who’s a Jew is very straight-forward, born of a Jewish mother and you are Jewish or have an Orthodox conversion, you are Jewish. That’s it.
