I suspect it's a combination of two possibilities - Trump simply can't help himself, or he could, and simply doesn't care. He loves the vibes he gets when he preaches to his disciples, and either has either deluded himself into believing that filling an auditorium with true believers is proof that the election is a slam dunk, OR he simply doesn't care all that much about winning. After all, if he wins, he can't whine about an rigged system, and he'll have to actually govern.
Does Trump have any bright campaign advisors? It appears he doesn’t or, if he does, he overrides any of their advice. Many of his words and actions certainly call into question his judgement.
A question for you and John; RFK appointed a fairly left-wing billionaire as his running mate. If he gets on the ballots, do you think he will "Ross Perot" Trump or Biden?
