Trump: 'I love getting even with people' (1992). Trump tolerates nothing less than 100% forever loyalty to himself. That goes for everyone, including family. Let this be a lesson to everyone.
Interesting read today John. I agree that we elect people to vote their conscience and it's a shame, worse actually, when they don't. But while it's not right, being threatened or penalized for doing so by party leader(s) is not a new phenomenon. If my recollection serves, the Obama/ Pelosi team had little or no hesitation to do so. They demanded loyalty similar if not equal to that of Trump, but done with a lot less publicly. I frankly don't expect things to significantly improve and that doesn't bode well for our future.
Your thoughts on JFK: perhaps what you say about his vaccination, and some or most even other positions, is accurate, but it's not with his entirety. The new nutritional triangle for instance more closely reflects the Mediterranean style diet than did the original. That diet is very highly regarded in the medical industry. My wife and I can personally attest to its benefits; we're in our 80ies with blood work and lab results being well controlled and center green is most instances.
Your articles are aways a pleasure even though we disagree from time to time.

That's an absolutely absurd statement, Al, and it kind of scares me that you might actually believe it.
While one can certainly find instances of Obama and Pelosi pressuring fellow Democrats to support their agenda, it was minuscule compared to what Trump has done. Purging the GOP of everyone who isn't totally servile to him leads his agenda. He's inserted himself into literally hundreds of GOP primaries, in some cases hand-picking opponents to run against incumbents who've personally displeased him because they said something, took an alternative position on something, or because they were put (by him) in the position of having to uphold the integrity of an election he was trying to steal (and more recently the integrity of congressional districts). He's threatened many others into retirement. He has made countless GOP leaders the targets of physical threats by his supporters. He ended Jeff Sessions career because Sessions properly recused himself of a legal case involving Trump. He ended Mike Pence political future, and couldn't have cared less that his life was endanger, because Pence did his Constitutional duty on January 6. He sat around for hours and did nothing while his supporters stormed the Capitol, coming after Pence and members of Congress who wouldn't overturn the election results to hand Trump an illegal win. He's used the DOJ to target his critics. I could go on, but I'm hoping by now you understand the Grand Canyon-sized difference between Trump and Obama/Pelosi.
>>but it's not with his entirety. The new nutritional triangle for instance more closely reflects the Mediterranean style diet than did the original.
As has been the case other times, Al, I can't tell if you're being serious. I'm describing RFK JR.'s opposition to mass-life-saving vaccinations and game-changing mRNA research, as well as him fabricating causes of serious conditions, and your response is about the nutritional triangle? The phrase that immediately came to mind when reading that was "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
>>Your articles are aways a pleasure even though we disagree from time to time.
John, my focus was on the phenomenon not being new. Yes, miles separate the Obama admin and Trump's, but not entirely. For instance, it's impossible to believe that all democrats except one they had to convince to get it passed, truly supported Obamacare. Charles K pointed out that the opposite of virtually everything Obamacare promised actually occurred. Some democrats had to suspect as much but they voted party line rather than, publicly at least, resist.
It's a reality in business and in government that when you bring out a corporate sword as Massie did publicly, you must prevail otherwise consequences prevail.
You can paintbrush JFK as totally incompetent if you wish. But to do so you have to ignore the results of a diet lifestyle my wife and I and others as well, enjoy. Which being pretty much opposite the original, closely resembles the nutritional guidelines now recommended by JFK's agency.
>>John, my focus was on the phenomenon not being new. Yes, miles separate the Obama admin and Trump's, but not entirely.
Lol. That's like saying that because people have been eating meat for a long time, Jeffrey Dahmer was not really that different than them.
Again, it's one thing to pressure legislators to vote for your crappy bill (I put forth plenty of criticism at the time of Obama was doing). Working aggressively to end the careers of everyone who defended the Constitution and rule of law from your emotionally-driven, perverse need to overturn a national election you lost is on a COMPLETELY different level. Convincing oneself otherwise is blind partisanship at its worst.
And again, it's not just GOP primaries. You have consider all the federal officials he's had fired simply for being assigned to cases he didn't like (or appropriately recusing themselves from cases), those he's brought up on charges through the DOJ, those who he fired for not being aggressive enough at carrying out his corruption, etc.
If Biden or Obama had done anything even remotely close to these things, you'd be calling them traitors to our country (I've seen you throw that term around for far, far less).
>>You can paintbrush JFK as totally incompetent if you wish.
RFK Jr.
>>But to do so you have to ignore the results of a diet lifestyle my wife and I and others as well, enjoy.
Yes, relative to RFK Jr's horrendous opposition to (and efforts against) mass-life-saving vaccinations, his defunding of game-changing mRNA research, and his psychotic fabrication of causes of serious health conditions, I'm more than happy to ignore your satisfaction with his dieting tips.
They pissed him off by defending the Constitution and rule of law against his efforts to overturn U.S. democracy, Al.
No one has to be 'perfect' to recognize that, nor does it require perfection to recognize wrongdoing, and degrees of wrongdoing, regardless of the wrongdoer's political affiliation.
As you are aware, the U.S. is governed by a 'Representative Democracy.' The list below is not completely detailed but it is a summary of the aspects of such a Democracy. Can you be specific about which Trump is trying to overturn?
>>Citizen Participation: Voting in free and fair elections.
>>Equality: The idea that all citizens have equal rights.
>>Majority Rule: Decisions are generally made by what most people want, while still protecting the rights of minorities.(Electoral college exceptions)
>>Fair, free and regular elections
>>Political equality and participation
<<Rule of law
>>Protections of rights and freedoms
>>Majority rule with minority rights
>>Accountability and transparence
Also:
Core Mechanisms:
>>Separation of Powers
>>Independent Judiciary
>>Pluralism
If Trump is ignoring the Constitution and the Rule of Law to the level you describe, why hasn't the Legislative and Judicial branches intervened more than they have?
Seems to me you are one of the Trump haters by your inferences and inuendoes!
Cassidy poked the proverbial bear and wound up with too many injuries to survive. To be successful in politics you have to have a steadfast front without agitators as was this guy. No matter what you write and infer about President Trump's agenda you have to admit he wields his sword with strength. No back door situations like Pelosi, Obama, Biden and their lefty loony ilk! Just straight in your face as a leader does.
I don't hate anyone, Joseph, and it's not the job of a U.S. Senator to kneel before the President of the United States, and unquestioningly do his bidding at the expense of the country.

Senator Cassidy needed to go. He didn’t support President Trump.
Senators don't work for the President of the United States. Please familiarize yourself with basic U.S. civics. Thanks.
Why bother having a senate or HoR at all, if their only job is to rubber stamp what POTUS wants to do?

Pissing a leader off has consequences. And I'll work on being as perfect as you.
