At one time Trump had the cards, and he recklessly played them while underestimating and ignoring how others emotions in our nation were boiling over. In his own party some were becoming too radical and arrogant for their own good as opposed to a strong steady and mature move forward. My wish is the Republican party will learn from this in the 2028 election cycle: "Play your cards right."

"They rejected his vulgarity, his out of control narcissism, his unlimited appetite for vengeance."

Yup, it wasn't about the economy, it wasn't about the war, it wasn't about gas, etc. It was about Trump! And now we are electing communists to Washington. Can't make this up.

"He said affordability was a hoax. He said the war with Iran would be over in a few weeks. He said tariff was his favorite word. He said elect me and food prices would go down. Same with inflation.

Donald Trump is why the House and the Senate went blue."

Read the whole column, Tim.

Tim Holmquist's avatar

I did. The war, economy, gas, etc - Was Trump!

Looney Libs's avatar

And the reality is that affordability won't change, Iran has all the power now, we will continue to have a trade imbalance with the rest of the world, and food prices and inflation will just go higher.

Yeah, smart vote.

Not just Commies, but people who outright hate the country. Chevalier, who was elected in NY last night, wrote on X "I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me." This should never have happened. That's not Trump's fault. That's the fault of voters. Many more just like her.

Nailed it! I'm concerned about the unknown factor of the social Democrat control but let's pray they want to do what is the best for the country. You're correct that they're on the hot seat for the next 2 years.

Bonnie Hoffmann's avatar

They’ve consistently shown that it has nothing to do with what’s best for the country.

It’s what’s best for foreign nationals, not legal citizens; what’s best for criminals, not victims; best for welfare recipients, not the taxpayers…

Their vision of America is that we’re evil and must be punished.

Looney Libs's avatar

They DON'T want to do what's best for the country. Like it or not, last night's vote was effectively an embrace of the worst America has to offer: Socialist, Communists, America haters, criminals, fraudsters (MN fraudsters are thrilled), supporters of illegals, and violent anarchists. The country is in big trouble. Blue voters too.

As just one example of many, Chevalier was elected in NY last night. She previouly wrote on X "I forgot to get napkins so I just wiped my hand on the American flag behind me." This should never have happened. That's not Trump's fault. That's the fault of voters.

Even if what you say has some validity, the issue is less about Trump than the stupidity of the GOP voter and the deranged HATE of the liberal voter. Are you saying, Bernie, that the Democrats are not vulgar scum? The way they committed lawfare against the President has been pure evil. We have a jihadi Dem who won in NYC who wiped her hands with the American flag, loves "Palestine", hates Jews- isn't that VULGAR? A Jihadi in Michigan who said America deserved 9/11. Isn't that VULGAR? The fact is Dems have no standards, hate the country, and will probably destroy the country. Complacent Repubs will get what they deserve, and the RINOS who refused to pass the Save America Act or codify border issues turned off MAGA. Tucker & the Woke Reich influenced as well. To say Trump's vulgarity was an issue is silly since none more vulgar or crazy -TalaFREAKO- than the Democrat garbage that won. Did you see the nut in Minnesota who beat Tafoya? How about Steve Hilton in California losing by 30 points to the Democrat- as Dems destroy California & Minnesota! Why do Dems continue to vote for TRASH, Bernie? Human nature is at play here too. Trump secured the border and was no longer an issue. Churchill was thrown out of power one year after he saved Britain & the world from the Nazis in WW2! PEOPLE are selfish & stupid. That's why Trump lost. And we the people will regret it!

If Trump's "playbook" isn't a factor in your opinion, then the Republicans would have racked in enough votes to keep Congress under their thumb. You just refuse to believe the reality of it all. The psychology of the voters works both ways, and then one can factor in Trump seemingly falling apart and rambling these past several months surely didn't help his party any. He couldn't make his case to convince the voters.

You are absolutely right, Bernie. Democrats need to understand that this election was about a repudiation of Trump and his enablers in the GOP. It was NOT an embrace of socialism or radical change to the country. It was about using the only lever available to send a message and put the brakes on an out of control POTUS.

Sadly, I don't think they will see it that way. They will, as every victorious party does, see the win as a mandate to implement the most extreme elements of their agenda. And if they do, or try to, the next election will NOT be about Donald Trump, it will be about the direction of the Democrat party, and as you say, they could end up on the outside looking in.

Its the mouth that is vicious... your mind may think but your office has President REQUIRES consideration of all people...and WORDS hurt more than STONE:

Also, for someone who proudly announced that, " I am not voting " , your opinion is meaningless. You are an ignorant traitor to the process.

John A. Daly's avatar

Would it kill you to post a sane comment once in a while? That's a serious question.

(Martin) Dean Young's avatar

My prayer is that the country hasn't started down a path with no return.

(Martin) Dean Young's avatar

I can't disagree. The next two years will be interesting and stressful for those of us who want what our forefathers started. Personal freedom, minimal goverment interferece, law and order.

Craig Stewart's avatar

If there is anyone who has a RIGHT to vengeance, it is Donald Trump. Can you think of any President who has been more abused by the media since Lincoln?

The war was necessary with so called affordability collateral damage. Since when were democrats known for affordability? Nine percent inflation maybe? Not. Democrats are clueless unless you favor more socialism and communism. They are a bad joke that should make Kamala stop giggling.

But not to worry. We still have the veto.

(Martin) Dean Young's avatar

My glass is still half full. We will survive this. Doom and gloom doesn't help the problem, nor foster better relationships. For the next two years Trump still has the veto and executive orders to temper the potential crazy of the far left.

Looney Libs's avatar

The biggest problem I see is that Dems won the local elections too. That will destroy communities, raise taxes, and so on. Girls' sports will definitely suffer, illegals will proliferate, crime will go unpunished.

So, already this morning, the incoming House Democrat has threatened Trump supporters and it was reported that an old leftist slapped a young Turning Point USA poll worker in the face and told him, "To get the F*ck away from me." So i guess this will be the ongoing trade off, huh, Bernie?

Looney Libs's avatar

Regardless, blue voters will now suffer to. They have elected the worst America has to offer: Socialists, Communists, anti-semites, America haters, radical violent anarchists, criminals, and those who support illegals. All to get back at Trump? "Trump didn't reverse Democrat mess fast enough, so we'll let the Dems make it worse." Just look at some of the people who will have power in January. It is truly troubling. You didn't hurt Trump. You hurt the country.

Excellent point, LL.

A couple of days ago the song “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning…” by Alan Jackson after 9/11, came on the car radio. My response was to sit in my car and cry.

Twenty-five years later we’re voting in people who not only condoned the attacks, but celebrate it. Voting in Mamdani in NYC and now El Sayed in Michigan, two candidates who openly hate America, Jews, our Constitution, traditional Americans…the list is long, is just the beginning of the decline in our country. Thank you, Obama…your plan has worked.

Enter the media whose sole purpose for existing is to elect the DSA.

Their message: Democrats/Progressives good, Republicans/Conservatives bad. They all now are having the last laugh. But let’s see how hard they’re laughing when their million dollar contracts (tens of millions for some) are taxed at 75-80%. They wanted socialism but somehow seem that they’ll be exempt from [much] higher taxes? As they say “you can’t fix stupid”. This is the perfect example of that.

The Democrats/Progressives may have won this war. But to your point, we’ve lost our country to people who have a mental illness and have no ability to look at the bigger picture. And every single one of us will pay dearly…literally.

Looney Libs's avatar

Yep, I could have never imagined on 9/11/01 that one day NYC would have a Muslim mayor who openly hates Americans, and associates with people who said we deserve 9/11.

Bonnie Hoffmann's avatar

Totally agree. How the hell did we get to this point?

Rhetorical question…I already know the answer.

The silver lining (for lack of a better term) for me and my husband is that he may retire sooner than later. At 66, why would he continue to work his a$$ off only to be taxed an exorbitant amount to pay for those who don’t want to work, and for the wellbeing of foreign nationals living in our country illegally. We’re a sanctuary state, so…

As they say, if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Though that’s not really our style to suck off the social welfare system, but…

Living in Colorado, we got hit twice. We have a one-party rule that is now on steroids with socialist policies passing.
