What irritates me is the complaints about Bad Bunny performing in Spanish. So what? I listen to Italian operas. The only Italian I know are names of pastas and other Italian dishes. I took German in high school and college, yet Richard Wagner operas are unintelligible to me. I still enjoy his operas.
The Turning Point half time show was on YouTube. I watched both and thought that each one was good. BB has some nasty lyrics in his music, but I believe the network and NFL scrubbed the lyrics so even though in Spanish, it was cleaner than normal.
I saw on social media a woman that runs a sports bar. I believe her post summarized today's politics.
"I run a business. A sports bar, JJ's Place. Yesterday 80% of the bar wanted the Turning point halftime show. The rest wanted Bad Bunny. To accommodate I put the TV's on half and half. The 20% started canceling the orders, taking to social media calling me a racist, being disrespectful to my staff, and leaving 1 ⭐️ reviews on Google and Yelp. Mind you the 80% who wanted the Turning Point halftime show weren't happy that Bad Bunny stayed on, but they didn't leave me a bad review, take to social media, cancel their orders, or disrespect my staff. I saw this (because it went viral), and have real doubts that it actually happened. She's a well known MAGA politician and activist here in Colorado, and people quickly checked her bar's Google and Yelp reviews, and found none of what she described. Same regarding the social media posts.

When I first saw the pic on social media, predictably all my liberal associates jumped on the bandwagon touting “proof of Trump’s racism.” I don’t believe Trump IS racist, based on friendships with people like Jesse Jackson among others.
I believe that Trump saw the video that promoted the “stolen election” nonsense without watching it to the end and then posted it before the racist part. That said, the video also portrays Biden & other Dems as jungle animals, a fact that the left ignored. Again not a defense but additional facts that appear to be ignored. Ultimately however I don’t believe Trump was intentionally racist for this reason: say what you want about him not caring or being dumb (which he often is). Oftentimes even the most dense dummies know NOT to give their enemies ammunition, which is EXACTLY what this video does! It’s obvious! Even Trump should know that, especially after his speech following Charlottesville. C’MON MAN!
I think that if one wants to make a compelling, concrete case that Trump is a racist, there are better examples than his posting of a video, that he at least conceivably didn't notice the racist portion of, prior to posting it.
For example:
1. Telling American citizens of color (including American-born citizens serving in Congress) to go back to the countries they came from.
2. Angrily calling Elaine Chao, his former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, "China loving Coco Chow!"
3. Insisting a Hispanic American judge can't rule impartially in a court case involving Trump, because Trump wanted a border wall.
Those things were all obviously racist, and there are other examples... but Trump supporters largely blow it off, and continue to treat accusations of him being a racist as unfounded and totally unreasonable... always giving him the benefit of the doubt.
Going back to the video, as we said in the podcast, the White House initially defended it (quite defiantly), declaring the reaction to it to be fake outrage. They then blamed it on an assuredly fictitious White House staffer, before Trump basically copped to it while still refusing to apologize, saying he did nothing wrong.
As for other Dems being portrayed as animals, no one cared because, unlike with the Obamas as apes, there weren't any racial connotations.

Many on the left have been undeniably crying wolf on racism for a very long time. That doesn't excuse Trump saying objectively racist things, like in the three examples I gave. One can try and argue that Trump's 'intent' wasn't to be racist when he said those objectively racist things, but that would seem like a distinction without a difference.
I didn't enjoy the Halftime show. I do think performers should mostly perform in English. I don't think that is a tall task. It wasn't that family friendly. Christy Canyon would have blushed with some of the grinding going on.
