John, Just say Pres. Trump does not complete his term due to medical reasons and JD Vance is sworn in as president. Who do you see as Vance's choice of VP? I can invision this scenerio truly happening next year. Trump's health is tanking.
I found the sneaking away in a catering truck issue funny and more likely an attempt by Trump to yell out "Hey, look at me, I'm important." Seems to me that Iran has little motivation at this point to 8647 and run the risk of getting someone (more) competent in the White House.
I don't view the catering truck exit as funny, but was clever and safety protocol is on high alert. Threats are serious, and after all, like him or not, he IS our president.
John, I found the Trump catering truck thing amusing/worthy of ridcule, because Trump left the press and key members of his administration (most notably, Rubio and Bessent - the only adults in his cabinet) hanging out to dry to serve as a decoy for him. Then he tried to explain that he was actually in greater danger in the plane that he snuck onboard, without explaining why, of course.
I read in an article that US intelligence assessed the Israeli warning, and deemed it low probability/low risk, but Trump was reportedly "scared" so the Secret Service came up with "Plan C" to calm him down.
Trump's trademark is the whole "tough guy" image that the maga cult eats up, yet when faced with real danger, he wasn't so tough.
There is also some speculation that Karoline Leavitt's decision to leave was in part because her boss used the new mom as a decoy. She got the memo that Trump doesn't GAF about her or anyone but himself.
This also raises some serious questions for the military/Secret Service - Is AF1 REALLY that vulnerable to a shoulder fired rocket? In addition to the classified defensive systems on the plane, AF1 typically flies with a fighter escort on international travel. So it raised the question "how confident are we in the safety and security features of AF1?" And that is the OLD AF1 we're talking about, don't even get me started about the g(r)ift plane from Qatar.
Trump went to plan "D" due to panic mode, and as far as Karoline L., I read Trump called her multiple times nagging her to come back to work and she never completed her twelve week maternity leave. How insensitive is that? I can guarantee her hubby was infuriated! There are now enough tents to form a three -ring circus. Good God!
I'm sure Karoline has had death threats against her and her family, absolutely, and she has had enough. I'm glad she is leaving this month and spending time with her beautiful family safe and happy. God bless her.
John: I am reading the interesting book, “Suicidal Empathy” by Gad Saad. Early in the book, Saad describes four key principles of an ethical journalist as described by The Society of Professional Journalists. Two of these are “Seek Truth and Report It”, and “Minimize Harm.” But what if the truth harms a particular group? Should you refrain from sharing it or obfuscate key features to “minimize harm”? No sooner did I read this than the story of black Cambridge University professor Jason Arday’s suicide made the news. Arday was under heavy scrutiny for rampant plagiarism, a very suspect back story, and other aspects of his life that did not pass basic fact checking. Cambridge University held a vigil for Arday, and the participants mostly blamed the British press for racistly noticing Arday’s suspect personal and academic record. I’m pretty much a free speech absolutist, but you’re the professional writer. Where do you stand?
Absolutely, and no worries! I do think it will still be a relevant topic next week. I have read several items this week about Prof. Arday and Nathan Confas, his main accuser.
All this extreme far left Socialist nonsense makes great news. Eliminating prisons, abolishing ICE, eliminating the Senate, open borders, eliminating the Electoral College, etc. Does anybody rationally really think for one second that any of these policies would get legislated into actual law. It’s like “Medicare for All”. Estimates are that would cost 4 trillion dollars. Politicians will say anything, but nobody ever asks them hard questions on HOW they are going to do it. I’m not sure the people that vote for them even care.

Iran is (successfully) trying to "Jimmy Carter" him. They have stated they want to keep the war going until Trump is out of office.

Steve, I must apologize. I somehow didn't see this until just now. Can I add it to next week's Q&A?
