John, sorry for the longer question today. I want to return to the subject of “banned books”, something we have discussed before in this space, because I continue to see it in local bookstore news. “Banned books” seems to be one more term whose definition is intentionally expanded by the left in an effort to be more empowered in their victimhood. The usual understanding of book bans comes from Nazi Germany, where the Nazis began a campaign of extreme censorship in the 1930’s to erase all ideas opposed to fascist ideology. This took the form of public book burnings and outlawing the ownership of certain publications. The 21st Century definition now includes books that are either removed or not allowed in school libraries due to their age appropriateness. To me, this is discretion and not censorship. If I can freely pick up a book at Barnes & Noble or order it from Amazon, it’s not "banned". When I was in high school, a group of friends and I were gathered around a Sports Illustrated when a librarian became suspicious and asked us what we were reading. When she realized it was the SI Swimsuit Edition, she took it from us. Nobody thought our rights were being violated; we just thought we were getting away with something. As a professional writer, what are your thoughts?
Well Sir John, I honestly don’t mean to cut time off your life span here on God’s green earth, but like Rob O. says—-I rely on you & Sir Bernie to get to the truth of these matters. Yes I submitted a You Tube video, but the original source is from Telemundo which I don’t have, but I suspect is just as biased in their presentations as are FOX, CNN, MSNOW and all the others. I certainty DO hope you and Sir Bernie get many more years of quality life here during your remaining tenure on earth, but I have access to you & Sir Bernie via these columns so by default, YOU get to look into my queries. I suppose I could attempt to send these videos to Ben Shapiro or INFO WARS or Jimmy Dore, but I just don’t believe that they would give the videos the same priority that you do.
And for the record, it was a toss up between this video and the one about the allegedly demon-possessed airline passenger who had to be duct taped to his seat by other passengers to keep him from shouting out racist and homophobic slurs while assaulting a Christian Jew Preacher who began preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to him. The mainstream media allegedly tried to spin the story to make the unruly passenger out to be a bigoted right wing Christian conservative.
Your Excellency, a lot of your Friday questions seem to be asking John D to do your homework for you. ;-)
Here's a rule of thumb - if you see a video or read an article online that is politically charged, and are wondering if it's legit, or exaggerated, google the topic and see if other news organizations are picking up the story and see what they are saying about it. If no one else is covering it, it's probably a BS story. If it IS being covered by multiple sources, you should be able to check a right wing source and a left wing source, and interpolate the truth, which is somewhere in the middle.
Greetings Mr. McCann. Yes I do attempt to get to the truth myself searching for multiple news sources. If I could find information on these stories that I could deem trustworthy then I would use them. Several of these politically charged stories, one would think, WOULD be covered by CNN or MSNOW or NPR/PBS when they make Trump and ICE & MAGA look bad. On today’s topic I found nothing from those news sources. I do know that Sir John & Sir Bernie have an easier time debunking this crap, and so I trust them over everyone else, even Alex jones. Have a blessed week and say hello if you make a visit to the Empire.
